Stoops was once a great coach, but I don't think he has it in him anymore. Talk to some Oklahoma people who have watched the decline up close. The UF job demands a lot more hunger and enthusiasm than Stoops would provide. I want us to go after a head coach who has shown he can do more with less, someone who has turned a program around against great odds but wants to show what he can do on the biggest stage. The last thing we need is someone who's gotten comfy and a bit lazy at a major program and is living off the reputation of his biggest season 14 years ago.

Florida has more talent than Oklahoma, but the SEC is proportionately tougher than the Big 12. So I'd call it a wash, and I'd expect similarly good but not elite results from Stoops here.

Stoops is a big name I might support, because he has proven willing to give up control of the offense. It would also be a hire with credibility.

But my point is, that some of the big hot names fizzled out since last time.

I say, we look at the list from 3 years ago and see who is STILL getting it done.

Perhaps Tedford should get an OC interview.

I think this would be amazing, except for the fact that Muschamp would handcuff the hell out of him.

I agree to some extent, but maybe he was a victim of trying to stay at a University that was not committed to football for way too long.

Remember Jimmy Johnson was a relative unknown coming form Ok State to UM. UM came form Utah. SOS from Duke. Small schools with a proven coach ready to make the move to an elite program, that's the model. Most established coaches at big schools aren't interested in making a lateral move.
