Isn't Grant's contract until 2018/2019? At $2 million a year, that's a lot of cheddar buying him out. The fans want him gone but if you follow the money, I think he gets at least another year.

That situation is somewhat similar to Muschamp's at Florida - both AD's are too invested in their man to fire them after a losing season and so both will give these coaches ample time to improve in the following season. Given the incoming class & transfers that could join the Tide next season, I think Anthony Grant will be back for another season. If Grant gets fired, say bye bye to all of that talent and the next coach will have an even bigger hill to overcome.

Grant may or may not be on the proverbial "hot seat". There is a lot of 'noise' (i.e, Finebaum) coming out of that Alabama fanbase but that's all that it is. Some of that fanbase at Alabama are totally insane and have unrealistic expectations given the resources (i.e, talent) available to them in that state. Alabama has never been known to recruit elite talent (outside of their state) to their program. Even though Alabama had some historical success in the SEC (i.e, 8 sec title & 6 sec tourney titles), they were never a consistent basketball power on a national basis. Neither Alabama nor Tennessee have ever been to a Final4 despite having more ncaa appearances (20/19 vs.) than Florida (18).

Yep - heard them talking about this on Finebaum and he and caller actually agreed that blatant lying to AD was no big moral transgression. They compared it to Petrino and his motorcycle incident which was much worse - in their opinion.

Gumps wouldn't want these silly moral questions get in the way of possibility of winning.

I hope Grant either finds his way back to UF or gets to learn in a lower profile HC position.

You posted this at same time I posted my comment about Finebaum stuff. I heard Finebaum say he was 100% sure Grant would be fired this season. He said he had no doubt - for what that's worth.

Finebaum is just an opportunistic shock jock, a windbag, and likes to stir the pot for his ratings. We'll see if Alabama wants to make a bad business decision & eat up that 8-10 million dollars of Grant's contract.

You sure he won't go back Tenn? Tenn is a better place due to Memphis I think. Who really wants to play in Tuscolusa?

Martin is safe. Grant is gone, Bruce wants to coach. Might even be the next FSU coach

Why is Martin safe? He has done pretty average despite some talent. They lost to a crappy TAMU team today. Grant has done well in previous years, although this year has been awful.

Yea I don't think Finebum knows anything about what Saban is going to decide. I think it will come down to what Saban wants to do. May depend on how well he gets along with Coach Grant.

Maybe Saban can get the rules changed to reverse Alabama's losses this year

Bama won't fire grant. That contract with the recruiting class he coming in. That and he is a likable guy though the fan base is starting to turn pretty hard. I think he has a very, very hot seat next year. I also think Bama will be very good next year, he has everyone but Releford coming back and a good class. He lost two of his three best offensive weapons before the season, with them he has a tournament team this year I have no doubt on that.

Right, he lost two of his best players and had one of the hardest OOC schedule. Maybe his lack of success isn't so surprising.

The fan base at Bama cannot stand him. He is gone, I don't care what a nice guy he might be. Bruce pearl will probably be their guy. That will cause some problems for sec teams.

One way or another we are going to have to deal with him. I think he he a terrific basketball coach regardless of issues.

Most of the Bama fans like Coach Grant and want him to succeed. But just like our last season in football your reach a point where the fans don't care about anything else but wins.

They don't care about anything else except for wins.

You have to keep in mind they are used to having a lot of football success. It only makes sense they want that in all their sports - but especially BB.

But with his $$$$ contract and the class coming in - he will remain one more year at least, IMHO.

The only negative I have heard is he sometimes blows off some show they have about BB where callers call in and stuff.
