I wouldn't be surprised at all if that happens.
Now he can come back and help coach the Gators ala Pelphrey.

Unfortunately, this appears to be a foregone conclusion. AG will land on his feet. He's a good coach and a great person.

Not sure we really have room for him right now. The two young guys have been great for recruiting.

I think Grant could do well at a mid major anyway.

wouldn't surprise me at all, but not really sure what the bammers expect. they've always been irrelevant in basketball and it's not like he's following a legend.

I think there are a lot of parallels to when Billy took over at Florida. at VCU/Marshall only a short time before taking over as a hot name young basketball coach at a football school. I know he hasn't been a huge success there but they should give him more time because they won't get a better coach/person.

It's a very good lesson for Shaka Smart. If you've got a good thing going and making a nice living at a place you like, you better be sure the 'better job' you're going to take is worth rocking the boat... the grass isn't always greener. I think a big reason why we've been able to keep Billy

God willing we keep who we have. I think Burno and McCall will definitely benefit from hanging around Billy for a few more years rather than jumping at the first jobs their offered and Pelphrey isn't a hot name but I could see one of those guys being offered a head job after this year

The question in my mind is who could Bama get that would be an upgrade from Grant?

yeah, I think this is the issue. Grant has a good recruiting class. You better have a good coaching who is willing to come, or you could end up with a Miss St issue. I kind of do want him to leave as I hate Bama and rather them lose all their games.

Say what you will about Bruce, he brings in some energy that is missing right now in SEC basketball. I think that is really the biggest problem right now. Many of the home games just don't have any energy to them. Now if a coach gets their team up in the Top 10 in the rankings then I guess meh will work.

Grant will end up back at UF.

As the recruiting parity in Division I increases every year, and additional network coverage gives more programs regular exposure, perhaps coaches will be less inclined to leave good situations at "mid majors" (whatever that term means by now) for "destination" schools like Bama and Arky.

I'm not so sure that Pelph would have done anything differently as far as getting out of South Alabama when the first big school offer came, but I'd bet Grant looks at what Shaka Smart is accomplishing at VCU and thinks how much more enjoyable life would be if he'd stayed there.

I'd be shocked if Bama didn't fire Ant.

Finebaum said that if Grant wasn't such a class act, Bama would probably give him the same treatment that USC gave Kiffin - leave him at the airport after they are eliminated in Nashville. That's how bad the fans want him gone.

The Bama people want Pearl. Its a good fit on a lot of levels.

Bama has not always been irrelevant in bball. They had great teams under CM Newton and the Man from Plaid, Wimp Sanderson. I believe that when Sanderson was canned for having an affair with an office worker, Bama was second to UK in SEC bball titles. Since Sanderson, Bama has been irrelevant in bball except for a couple of years under Mark Gottfried.

Going to be a bidding war for Pearl it looks like. He gonna get paid. UGA, Bammer, UT, USCe all could come calling for his services.

gotta love the impact of the sanctions... take three years of stress off to 'only' make commentator money followed by being one of the hottest coaching names when his 'punishment' is over.
