And all he asked in turn was that she not promote her sexual preferences or relationships with the enemy (former Lakers) on social media or during the games. Kind of makes you wonder why the Clippers' players took his comments so personal - were some of them doing her. :)

I can't wait to see how the far left incorporates this situation into their social justice campaign.

Y'know, there's no law that says at least one character in this kind of real life telenovela has to be sympathetic.

Matt Drudge tweeted to more than 264,000 followers:"NYT informed the unwashed how Bundy is a Republican. Leaves out NBA Sterling is a Democrat."

First of all, I don't think it means a damn thing whether he's a Republican or a Democrat. His actions fall on him, not everyone else.
But I'm sure that all the conservatives here who were so happy to declare him a Democrat will come back and apologize for this misinformation.
(Just kidding, I don't expect it at all.)

Is the fact that he's 80 years old a mitigating factor? I know my Grandparents' faculties were already heading South by that age. He shouldn't have said what he did, but it was the context of a heated argument with his African American girlfriend, and was likely motivated by jealousy more than hatred of a racial group. I wonder how many people are outraged more because they are obliged to feel outraged than because of what Sterling said.

The impact of social media is staggering. What Sterling has to say on this recording pales in comparison to his discrimination against minority tenants which has been public record for years.

He's basically saying that he's embarrassed to be seen as hanging out with african americans due to a perceived class issue in his social circles. That is pretty damn sad and political dynamite in the NBA. But I see it more as ignorance than any kind of hate.

Refusing to rent someone an apartment based upon race is a crime.

The only way Sterling can possibly recover from this and get the media off his back is to dump the girlfriend and come out as the first openly gay professional sports team owner.

You mean he hasn't dumped her yet? Yes, he is certainly an idiot.

The man has shown his ass no doubt. But this is where we are in America today. You can be ruined just for the thoughts that are in your head. Not actions, private thoughts. Thoughts that, by the way, were illegally obtained. Conversely his actions apparently were so generous he was just about to be honored by the same people he has improper thoughts about.

Keep your thoughts in your head people locked real tight. There could be somebody out there just waiting to commit a crime in order to expose you and take everything you have material or otherwise. Sterlings comments are low hanging fruit in today's world. Nothing illegal, just insensitive, outdated and ignorant. So lets ruin him.

I'm not even gong to get into the incredible hypocrisy of this entire fiasco. Makes you wonder what really is important today. I don't have a clue. Oh, and to some of you. Sterling doesn't represent his race any more than the guy who mugged my wife represents his. Get it?

    GO HEAT!

All the conservatives? Well, on this thread that would be precisely two. And you really want an apology for them getting misinformation? Talk about drama.

Not to a small extent, but to a large extent. His world views were first shaped in the latter 30's and throughout the 1940's. To say things have changed would be a bit of an understatement. The world he grew up in is so different from the world his "soul mate" grew up in (shaped in the latter 90's)....well...they might as well be different planets.

In a weird sort of way, and to give him a small bit of credit, given the world he grew up in and how he still perceives African Americans, his actions were, in the most part, directly opposite to what he privately believes. At least so says the NAACP. Of course money had nothing to do with it. Any of it. Not to worry. His generation will soon be all dead and the world will be free of all racism. I'm sure of it.

Yes, and this is the place to come to discuss important issues with important outcomes, right?

Here... Let me get you a ladder to help you come down off that very high horse you're riding on...

Yep, looks like they are forcing a sale of the franchise as well and fining him $2.5 million.

man's achilles heel, woman, and in this case some excess plaques and tangles certainly contributed. you would have thought human beings have evolved further than what this guy has demonstrated.
