Spoken by someone who most likely has never had to cut through the Government red tape. Most likely is annoyed by anyone who has been successful without the help of the government and believes in socialism. Am I close?

Instead in my case, the hospital has taken over the largest group of doctors in this area and is also acting the insurance. So basically they can write their own ticket and then cash it.

Leo-in your opinion is this an act of survival, making the best of a changing climate, borderline criminal or some combination of the four?

Odd that some resent Doctors making money after investing over 1/10th of their expected lifetime and yet will never think about a fifty dollar movie night that supports Hollywood elites and their lifestyle. I won't even mention overpaid professional athletes and that a normal Joe can't afford to take his kid to a game anymore. But damn those doctors-until you need one.

    I can see a totally anti-competitive situation.

A test with a failure rate of 20% doesn't seem that hard.

When you consider it is a specialty renwal in medicine...

I would hope more than 80% of specialists are competent in their work...

That said I m fully ignorant of the standards and specialty and just saying I think it could be very hard with a 20% failure rate.

    1/10th? How do you figure?

I doubt most begrudge doctors but when you hear a new doctor (less than two years) talking about how rough it is with all his medical loans and then he drives out of the parking lot with an $80k Range Rover it is hard to feel sympathetic.

Medical education costs too much and takes too much time! Just to go through medical school it takes 8 years in this country, 6 in most European countries. They're are definitely not suffering from deficient care over there. That's before internship and before any specialty residence. We need to bring both the duration and the cost down.

Come on neis you know that most doctors are living large right away...

I believe it was the John Hopkins documentary abc did (they have done a few hospitals over the past few years) and the Cardiovascular Surgeon they were following was rolling in his Honda Accord if memory serves me right (can't remember if he was in a fellowship or not).

That said I am sure there are plenty of examples the envy crowd can find of the range rover as well...

I saw and ENT doc the other day. He had a Resident come see me first..his last day..

An hour later, I saw him getting on public transit.

    My anecdote:
All new doctors ride public transport and can't afford even a clunker.

Good for him! An environmentally aware doc! We need more like him to fight GW. Now it might help if his 5'2", 110lbs wife gave up driving the Expedition, but that's another story for another time.

Someone very smart said this on Too Hot a while ago... That was scorned by the liberals...

"It will be a joy to watch when people who support Obamacare realize that universal coverage does note an universal treatment"

This article explains exactly why doctors are so quick to sell to hospitals and why hospitals are so quick to buy

    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/05/opinion/diagnosis-insufficient-outrage.html?smid=tw-share&_r=1&

Many of the same doctors who complain about increased regulation in healthcare are the very reason increased regulation is necessary

Oh really when did they do all that? The pubs had control of the govt from 1994 to 2007 and did nothing.

I don't resent anybody making money, especially doctors, most work up to 10 years in school before being able to earn a living wage, what I don't like is doctors who were part of the abuse and overutilization of the system now complaining when that very system is failing.
