    Division I student-athletes can receive unlimited meals and snacks in conjunction with their athletics participation, the Legislative Council decided Tuesday. The rule, which applies to walk-ons as well as scholarship student-athletes, is an effort to meet the nutritional needs of all student-athletes.

    Members also voted to:

    • Require strength and conditioning coaches to be certified from a nationally accredited certification body;
    That new rule might impact Mike Peterson I am not sure

    Napier is mad now.

    I'm assuming it wont be retroactive. (Mike Peterson)

    They should just put a 24-hour Golden Corral on campus!

    This is good for all of the players. Some of the food rules were just downright stupid, like the peanut butter rule.

    All players had to keep a jar of peanut butter in their trousers at all times. Really never made sense to me.

    If they gave the walk-ons bagels, they couldn't put PB on it. It would be a violation. No kidding.

    Good. This almost puts my argument that players should be given some kind of stipend to bed. This is good for now, I think.

    I read that it was any spreads, even cream cheese, which is just asinine.

    It may sound asinine, but hey, I'll take a free, plain bagel any time. I didn't get them in college.

    Please tell me this whole thing is a joke. (The PB/ bagel and cream cheese rule.)

    I don't mean to sound dense but I can't tell. I need a sign that says "satire" like Sheldon needs a sign that says "sarcasm." (BBT reference.) It kind of does sound like a Saturday Night live skit, after all.

    I mean- not even the NCAA is idiotic enough to regulate peanut butter on bagels, are they?

    I assume this means unlimited steaks, lobster and caviar at some schools?

    LOL.

    Here's an article from last year: http://college-football.si.com/2013/01/22/ncaa-bagel-rule-update/

    "John Infante: The Legislative Council decided to delete the interpretation that says bagels cannot have spreads or toppings. The rule, which allows schools to provide unlimited fruits, nuts and bagels at any time, says nothing about cream cheese, butter, peanut butter, lox, you name it. That means that the NCAA is no longer worried about what is going on bagels. That is, until some football staff decides to set out lunch meats, pizza bagels or grill steaks and serve them to players on half a bagel."
