Employers are squeezed. They fire her...she's got a case...they leave her there and the guy shows up at work and hurts someone...they have a case...they leave her at work and they have to make "reasonable accomodations" for her and her safety else they've got more problems.

I've seen a handful of businesses where coworkers were injured due to domestic disputes spilling into workplace.
Sad situation all around but until this nutcase is locked up can you afford to endanger those near her?

My friend was fired from a Christian elementary for rumors (true ones) of her living with her boyfriend. Part of their honor code or whatever they might call it. Silly to me, but that's their policy. This woman might have more of a case, since I doubt "stalking boyfriend" is written word for word in her contract.

A lawsuit will not do what you think it will.

Suppose the school did nothing while having knowledge of this dude's behavior and when he gets out next fall, comes to the school and harms someone. Surely a suit, or perhaps multiple suits would be filed, no?

What message do you think that resulting suit would send?

    "He is locked up."
For...a few months? Days? Someone forgets to notify the wife when he's released...

Since it is a religious school it is appropriate to ask....What would Jesus do? Probably not fire the mother of two children from her job because she married a creep.

    Very sad story.

She has 4 children. The Church has forsaken her. I guess the government will take up the slack.

I'm as informed as anyone on this thread (moreso, perhaps, as I googled several more stories about it), and I'm not Godless.

You are presenting a false choice, there are miles between doing nothing and sending this woman and her kids to go fend for themselves. Taking out their own restraining order, asking for a police drive-by on a regular basis etc, putting the woman on paid leave and allowing her to teach her kids at home etc.

But the larger problem here from my perspective (beyond the hypocrisy of how they handled the molestation scandal and this), is two fold:

First, women like this are exactly who the church claims to help. She is clearly in need of it and the church is sending her away.

But second, and less from a religious but more a social perspective, what this man wants is control over his wife's life. The church is not only putting this woman into poverty in all likelihood (unemployed with three kids and a blotch on her resume in a bad economy), but rewarding the husband for his behavior, he is controlling her ability to work because the church is letting her go. This will only encourage him, not dissuade him. This is exactly why many women go back to abusers, because they feel they have no other option.
The church is helping to do this psycho's work for him.

Its not my choice to make. Its simply not as what many including you are making it. There are other issues to consider as well.

    Yours seem logical.

I don't. Private employer, they should be able to fire her for this if they want to, and people can respond by agreeing or disagreeing with their tactics by choosing to send or not send their children to that school. The concern may be unreasonable, but it doesn't demand government protection against it.

Here, this should make you happy:

It's a strange world we live in when you can't hold someone accountable for a morality clause that they agree to.
