Don't post here often but how is he on a scholarship? when he plays he is lost and really has not shown anything in last year and early this year. Wonder why Billy wouldnt take his scholly and give it to Kurtz? Does he have any upside?

Exactly. We had comments like this about Lee Humphrey his first couple of years too. Now nobody knows Graham will become that good or anything, but what is gained by forgetting that unhurt he was the most athletic of the true frosh last year and showed potential.

Insti, I understand giving it time but Humphrey averaged close to 30 minutes a game as a frosh and soph. Dillon Graham cannot even get off the bench with 3 guys missing.

Right, he had a terrible ankle injury at exactly the wrong time. He was moving far far worse than last year in the exhibition and opener indicating to me that he is struggling to get healthy.

My own thoughts are now that Carter is eligible this season, perhaps Graham needs a medical redshirt. The way I see it is that, if Carter takes a medical redshirt as many thought, then next season Carter, Frazier and Graham are all JRs and Francis is a FR. If Graham gets a medical redshirt this year while Carter plays, then next season Carter is a SR, Frazier is a JR, Graham is a Soph and Francis is a FR. I like the latter much better and then I would see Graham as potentially contributing a lot in his UF career.

He is hardly "lost." Graham isn't shooting with any confidence right now and that has made him a one-dimensional dribble drive threat on offense who isn't particularly good defensively. Devon Walker is playing with a little more confidence right now, so he is getting the minutes out of those two.

For years, we always complained that we roster never had experienced guys. Well, now we are getting that by recruiting and developing kids who are willing to wait there turn and we want to pull their scholarships. Glad we didn't do that to Prather as a freshman when everyone said he was "lost" and was likely to transfer.

He will always be an end of the bench guy at UF. When the others become eligible and healthy, Walker will join him there. Neither guy will play much as long as they are at Florida. Each should probably be at a mid-major.

Wow, not even close. Humphrey was seldom used as a freshman, and way down the rotation as a sophomore. He didn't start until he was a junior.

The stats I have show Lee averaging 3.8 ppg while playing 19 minutes a game as a freshman

Humphrey played plenty as a freshman. He beat out Al-Kaleem because he would defend and he even hit the game winning shot against Bama in the SEC tourney.

Agreed. Lot's of players have looked lost as Freshman/Sophomores at UF. Some turn it around, Like Joakim Noah. Others stay lost, like Ryan Appleby.

In summation, it's way to early to write anyone off.

Exactly. As for Humphrey, I brought him up because some posters at the time said very similar things about him to what was said about Graham to start this thread.

Graham hasn't shown me he's anywhere close to getting even minimal PT at Florida, but speculation that the school might withdraw his scholarship is ridiculous. Jim Harrick ain't running this show.

Its comment like these that ruin the boards for most fans. How can you possibly make a statement like this? Do you scout kids for a living? Are you behind the scenes at practice? Do you know how these kids project in a year or two? Give the kid a break. He is playing basketball at the University of Florida and if Billy D gave him a scholly then he is here for a reason. The same could have been said for Hump, Prather, etc. Many were saying this about Noah after his freshman campaign. The fact is that statements like this are demeaning to the kid and serve no purpose other than to inflame the common sense of decent people.

We can't afford to take scholarships and give them to walk ons. That locks up a scholarship we could be using for someone else. Graham has talent and may come through, but if he doesn't, we're not going to throw our scholarships away on walk-ons when there's tons of talent out there.
