I keep hearing about this quote that supposedly came from Muschamp last year. I'd like to see this quote verified. Anyone have a link to a legitimate source that can verify that Muschamp actually said this?

Everything I've read this season goes along the lines of Muschamp feeling like UF could win games w Murphy.

Supposedly Muschamp said it 1 or 2 seasons ago. I am with you. I have a hard time believing Muschamp would say something like that. I'd like to get to the bottom of it, though, if it simply isn't true.

If Muschamp said it, maybe Murphy wasn't at the time. Just because he is performing well now doesn't translate to good performances last year or the year prior.

Why bring it up now in any case. Clearly, the coaches put their faith in Murphy as the #2 going into the season; and have been very supportive of him.

OTH, I have trouble believing that he said it unless it was something grabbed out of context in response to a question.

Your signature is cute; but wrong headed. Of course Thoreau was by nature an iconoclast, maybe even an anarchist.

I seem to remember him saying something along those lines a year or two ago

People are bringing it up in order to bash Muschamp's ability to evaluate offensive talent. The negative crowd will continue to do so. It is mentioned quite often when people talk about Kelvin Taylor's lack of playing time. I'd like to call those people to the table and have them back that claim up with some facts. For all we know it could be a rumor that is based on taking something Muschamp said out of context. Or it could be fabricated. I don't want people unnecessarily slandering the reputation of our coach with lies. I want to see the actual quote.

If he said it, maybe at the time it was accurate. If we're talking about 2 years ago, he probably wasn't a viable option. But having said that, don't think Brantley, Brissett, or Driskell were either.

I try real hard not to think of it, because when I do, Charlie Weis comes to mind, and then I do vomit.

You start a thread with this and then say "people are bringing it up"..

I guess i can conclude you are a person.

It's a fair question to wonder how the coaching staff missed on TM as much as they did. However, Muschamp has obviously made some decisions well. I mean we're only 15-3 in our last 18 games.

I created a thread about it because I want answers and accountability for words that people (in other threads on page 1 of Swamp Gas) are attributing to Coach Muschamp.

If people are held accountable for speaking undocumented rumors or lies about the team and the coaching staff, then hopefully they won't say them anymore once they realize that what they are saying is just that: undocumented rumors and/or lies.

Two years ago, he was not a viable option. Neither was Mack Brown. Now they are. Things change.

OK, let me ask you what is the difference if Coach said this or not? If this was said 2 years ago, and Murphy wasn't ready for prime time, what is the big deal?

Murphy's development, the work he put in, his readiness is a testament to his own character and work ethic as well as a testament to our coaching staff who obviously did a great job preparing Murphy.

You want accountability on an Internet forum? Now that's funny.

I agree completely (and I think Plank does, as well). But again it was used in another thread to substantiate someone's contention that Muschamp evaluated Murphy poorly.
