Lady Gator LAX received the #5 Seed in the NCAA LAX Championships. They own the second best record (17-2, tied with #2 Northwestern) and better than #3 North Carolina (14-3) and #4 Syracuse (16-3) - BTW UF defeated both NC & Cuse and split with NW. I understand NW at #2 - they won the ALC, but dropping the Gators to #5 seems like the old establishment trying to hold down the new kids on the block.

What does it matter. We have to play those teams anyway. We just have to beat Maryland in the semi finals instead of the finals.

The biggest issue is that we have to go to Syracuse for the quarterfinal game rather than hosting. MD and NW will be in Philly--so at least they will be neutral site.

I think the officials would be less blatant in trying to screw us at home as opposed to on the road.

I guess I just don't understand how #2 (UF) loses to #4 (NW) in the ALC Championship and then get a #5 seed.
Just stacking the deck against the Gators

yes = hosed. but they pretty much went w/ the rpi ranking....which no one else really using. is that how they seeded last year or the year before? i'm curious? will be interesting to watch moving forward too.

i can see they are trying to stack the deck against the gators. bottom line: gotta win each game as they come.

We are still the outside program looking in. Instead of admiration for a new program doing tremendously well, we are looked down the nose, askance, and with disdain. We are new money in an old money world. So, yes, we are hosed. These seniors have done such an incredible job. I would love for them to win it all.

The higher the seed, the easier path to the title.

Tournaments are always set up to reward the better teams with an easier path.

The important difference is that the top 4 seeds play their second round at home. By being a 5 seed we will have to play Syracuse (probably) on their home field. This is a big difference than playing them on our home field. We haven't lost at home in a long time.
