Wow! Hadn't heard that. He sat out all last year. Still having trouble with the same injury? Sounds like his
    basketball career is over. Terrible.

    That's rather callous.

Maybe, but it's the truth. I wish Devon well and hope he has a speedy recovery.

Taking a long time to heal. He injured it in February of 2013, so it's been a little over a year...close to a year and a half at this point. It was a pretty bad injury. We could really use him this year.

Osiris, if you have some details, including your general source, it would be really helpful if you could elaborate. We know that Eli practiced with the team before the start of last season and played in several non-conference games. We also know that he was not effective in those games and basically was a shell of what he was when he kicked our butts in New Jersey during his freshman year at Rutgers. We also were told that he had some scar tissue problems associated with the broken leg. We also know that, about 3 months ago, Billy Donovan said in an interview that Eli was doing really well, that he was probably at 80-85%, and that the trainer felt that Eli would be at 100% by the start of practice in October. Has that assessment changed?

Not what I hear! He is playing based on my sources, just not in pick up games! But I hear he'll play this season. And it's only July. Plenty of time before they get serious in Oct! I bet he'll contribute this season!

Last Donovan publicly addressed it, they were taking it easy on him this summer. He is healed, but still a long way out in terms of basketball readiness.

If Carter can give us 6-8 minutes of offense and tough nosed D by SEC play that will be enough to help out

I think he will be able to give us more minutes than that. If the 12 scholly players are all healthy & enrolled, plus the walk ons, Fla should have plenty of options & depth to utilize this season. I'm not expecting another 36-3 season, but I do think we can win 30 with the athletes on the roster.

I hope he does. He was a beast when he was healthy at Rutgers. I remember when they were thinking he would just barely miss the rest of the season at Rutgers since it was a clean break, wouldn't require surgery, and was going to heal completely in a couple months. My heart goes out to the kid, he's a tough dude and had a really unfortunate series of problems with respect to that injury. The kid is so tough he tried to go back in the game after breaking his fibula, before they x-rayed it he tried to convince his coaches he just tweaked it and he was good to go back in. He was putting weight on it to try to prove it - imagine how much that must have hurt. That's the kind of competitive spirit this kid has, which is just the kind of player that makes this system work. However, that attempt to walk on a broken fibula and play through it probably didn't help things

Tampa, I don't think elaborating about a current player's medical condition is the right thing to do, and I almost feel like I shouldn't have posted what I did. Let's just say I've heard a few things this summer, but let's focus some positive mojo and go with hoopstar's take as I like that a lot better :)

Looks like Brandone Francis may get a little more time early on than anticipated.

And an even bigger agreement during the season. Inside knowledge about who can and cannot play is extremely valuable to gamblers betting on individual games. Here we are only impacting long bets on next year's NCAA tournament.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Donovan is taking the Lakers job, C Walk is headed to Europe, DFS gave up basketball, Frazier is taking up football, and Hill will transfer to Kentucky.
