The same would happen to San Fran if it weren't for the tech gabillionaires isolated in their gated communities, or perched on the side of a hill across the Golden Gate in Marin County.

Or the "liberal" local and state governments that give them tax breaks and other incentives to locate here. Add in a gradual hard line with the public sector unions and all of the school choice/charter school initiatives, and the myth of "liberal" SF starts to fade.

Stupidity, inept leadership and more failed liberal policies surely had nothing to do with it. Calling Detroit a $hit dump is insulting to a $hit dump.

Obviously, but still a sad state of affairs. Looks like a lot of city retirees will take a big hit.

Those population decline numbers are stunning.

Obama stated in 2012 that he refused to let Detroit go bankrupt. So it goes bankrupt in a non-election year.

    CORRUPTION RULES!!!!!

51 years of liberals running the city into billions of dollars of debt. Chicago on deck and California in the hole.

Preview of what dems will do to the country.

Yep, he's trying to bankrupt our nation just like Detroit. Also, doesn't he sound a little bigoted, after all Detroit is mostly all black.

I have an idea. Maybe Stevie Wonder can give benefit concerts there since he won't be in Florida and now has more time on his hands.

Here's the sad thing, these so called leaders run the city into the ground with the hopes that brother BO will bail them out with Federal dollars via more taxes. Don't be surprised (I'm serious) if BO and the dems offer a value added tax. If the libs can't see that this administration will do to the country what has been done to Detroit than God help us.

CNBC asked the financial manager appointed if he had talked to Valerie Jarrett about help and he refused to confirm or deny that he spoke with her and would only say that they had talked to multiple parties to try and ease their liquidity problems.
