Well well whats fair for the goose is fair for the gander. Dem know the bill they made up and passed is a piece of crap but think they are to good to have to live with it like every one else.

    "
Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) was being debated, proponents were accused of saddling Americans with inferior and expensive health care while keeping generous coverage for themselves at taxpayer expense. To rebut that allegation and build confidence in the bill, a provision was added mandating that members of Congress – and their staff members – get there coverage through the new exchange system the bill set up. Now that the time to sign up for exchange coverage is nearing, a Democratic member, Rep. John Larson (D., Conn.), is saying that “this is simply not fair” – as key staff members head for the exits to avoid Obamacare.

Fears of "brain drain" in the halls of Congress. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Your feelings on ACA aside, to me the takeaway here is how our "representatives" live and think versus those they purportedly represent. Their healthcare is gold. The mere prospect of being thrown into the crap bowl with the rest of us creates this type of panic.

And FTR, they absolutely should be forced to abide by their own laws, all of them. In this case, it's Obamacare (not to mention insider trading...oops, I mentioned it.) Or, to put it another way, figure out a way for their constituents to get the same the of healthcare they have.

I have this model of Congressional compensation wherein their pay and bennies equal that of their median constituent. The median healthcare is expensive and doesn't cover anything? That's what you get too Congressman! Perhaps you should try to change that.

    Brain drain. Pull the plug.

Larson is an idiot. Another lifer with a sense of entitlement, who by the way, was a teacher and ended up marrying one of his former students.
But the issue here isn't the ACA, if you read the original politico article linked in that one, the government generously subsidizes their health care now and there is no guidance on whether they will do so on Jan 1. It's akin to your employer no longer paying a large percentage of your health care...for me even as a single person that would mean 3-400 extra dollars a month in cost.

I dont read into the article anything that refers to what you state. It plainly says they must their ins thru the exchange

Because as I said it's in the article that this story links to and what is was based on:

    http://www.politico.com/story/2013/06/obamacare-lawmakers-health-insurance-92691.html

Just another hyberbolic opinion piece disguised as factual. Maybe the ACA raises their health care costs maybe it doesn't, I don't know. But that isn't the issue here.

" Rep. John Larson (D., Conn.), is saying that “this is simply not fair” – as key staff members head for the exits to avoid Obamacare."

The issue here is that they dont want to go Obama care. I feel sure they will still make tax payers pay their premium regardless of what plan they are on

Again, that isn't the issue here. The premiums for Obamacare are never even mentioned in the story that Forbes was basing their piece off of.

It's not about the premiums, it's about the subsidy that pays the premiums. There is a debate to be had over what the larger corporate world does next year, but this isn't that story.

Anyone thinking the elite will get the same healthcare as the masses is just ignorant of history and facts.

What do you expect from someone living off of the government for 30 years. I'm just stunned he doesn't have a law degree.
