Of course this is just after 2 games...but
    3rd in Total Def.
2nd in Total yds allowed 208.5 per game
2 of 24 attempts on 3rd down conv.......that stat is insane.

I think our defense is going to be top 5 in a few categories by the end of the year... and those stats prove that our defense is off to a good start.

Total defense is yards allowed per game, and we are 3d.
We are 2d in first down defense, 1st in 3d down conversion-defense

And, of course, 1st in TOP

i know most people are not happy with the offense and game plan for the gators in the muschamp era. but i will say this... i would much rather have the dynamic defense with a serviceable offense(last year) then the other way around with a dynamic offense and serviceable defense. when teams that have been throwing the ball, and running these up-tempo offenses run into a quality defense things seem to stall out. thats why oklahoma didn't beat us 08, thats why auburn beat oregon. with all the talk about these super fast paced no huddle offenses around college football; can someone remind me when one of them actually won a BCS title?

In fact, the offensive stats are almost precisely the opposite of defensive state - last in the SEC in more than one important category. Almost the worst offense in the history of the universe.

It is very difficult to win consistently against good opponents without balance, something that Muschamp's Gators severely lack.

The stats are impressive. I want to see how we look against teams have better offensive talent than Toledo (who had good numbers last year, but at the end of the day, is still Toledo) and Miami (one-trick pony Duke Johnson and not much else).

I think Miami is quite a bit more than Duke Johnson. Miami's offense would probably be among the better offenses in the SEC. Give our defense credit...

One trick pony? Didn't they score two of their TD's through the air?

I'm not sure if we take the statistical title outright this season, but I believe this defense will be acknowledged as the best defense in the nation before the season is over.

Lsu,Uga,SC,Fsu are the only teams left with talented Off. Lsu might be a stretch.
Lsu and Uga more of a running threat...that can throw.......SC and fsu passing threat....but can run....a little.

Its early yet, but so far UF's D is holding its opponents to 230 yards and 15 points fewer per game than the opponents get v their non-UF opponents.

Love having a great defense, they've had a great start, but the one stat I would like to see to show those who whine about offensive "time of possession", is how much time our defense has actually been on the field? The fact they have been great on third down's is a big deal but also the fact they haven't had to be on the field because of the offense eating up the clock helps your stats big time.
We need to score an easy TD or two,....some big plays! Hard to run 8-12 play drives and not make a mistake!

ESPN has a show called the film room.Today they said UF may have the best front 7 in the nation and with our secondary you might as well say the best Def.
