Someone forwarded that via email to me today and thought it was a great read!! He brings the perspective of a former Gator superstar and it was very insightful.

The type of Gator fans that most need to read this are the type that probably don't know who Carlos Alvarez is.

Interesting read. Though, I will agree with the first poster after that article... I don't hear about ANYONE here in Atlanta wanting Muschamp fired. In fact, the Puppy Homer guy on one of the sports radio stations up here was saying that a silver lining if the Pups lose this year is that Muschamp would definately keep his job.

I'll copy and paste from the other thread on this same subject.

    Very nice article
    Motivational.....
    Sorely needed at this time.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with nostalgia and lessons learned.

I worked with a wonderful person and outstanding individual that was the starting guard on that team in 1969

We had many conversations about Gator football and fans in general.

I am very comfortable with my opinions today, regarding the current staff.

Unfortunately, you are absolutely correct! Carlos was an All-American WR before most of those spoiled Gator fans were even a twinkle in their parents eyes. The Gators will return to power in the SEC and Will Muschamp will lead us there! Go Gators!

I've heard plenty of Gator fans say they want Richt and Jimbo to stick around forever, yet Richt was 5 yards away from a NCG appearance (and probably win) last year and Jimbo is #2 in the country and on his way to a NCG appearance. I'm not sure Muschamps the guy, but what a rival fan thinks about him means absolutely nothing to me.

Your telling me that you wouldn't have wanted to see senile ole Bobby Bowden stick around FSU for another decade or have Lane Kiffin coaching UGA?

Are the fans "spoiled" or just refusing to go quietly into the night of mediocrity?

And what about non gator fans that observe the same criticisms? Are they "spoiled"? Or let me guess...they are "haters".

He's one of the all-time Gator greats, so I take anything he has to say fairly seriously.

No I hear ya loud and clear. I was simply letting it be known that its not just the younger fans that have an issue. I'm a Muschamp supporter but I get tired of seeing the age card pulled. I have no issue with someone not thinking he's right for the job. Its just the personal attacks I don't like. Other than that, have at it lol

I agree with the age card issue. If your crowing achievement is surviving to 65 in the age of modern medicine I think some evaluation is in order. That being said I respect the wisdom of my elders.

Certainly but there is a difference between old and wise versus just old and grumpy.

Representing the Cuban-Americans well. I didn't know he could write so well. Put's it in a whole new perspective for me. I am motivated for the game now! Deep stuff and love it.
