I'll be one of those workers. 99% of that incredibly long day is helping great people. The downside being interacting with the incredibly stupid election deniers.

How about this idea. Vote for neither. Until enough people have the balls to do it, the country will just stay torn apart

Well, Trump encouraged his merry band of idiots in Georgia to try this and that is how the Republicans lost the senate. This only works if there is a viable third party and both sides do it.
However, it still makes me laugh when I think about Trump giving away the senate. A true genius.

Childish. Every county’s supervisor of elections should do his or her job to verify cast ballots and count them as quickly as possible. This is nonsense.

Quite the original idea. I believe it originated in the 1800s.

2020 was the 11th presidential election that I have voted in, but it was the first where large numbers of votes weren’t counted that night. So before computer voting systems, manual ballots could be counted by midnight(even in Broward County) but not in 2020?

I don’t think this is true at all. That is the problem. People actually think it is true, thus leading to these wild conspiracy theories.

Given the fact that several states do not even allow counting until the polls close, my guess is that votes are indeed counted after election day. Most of those are probably absentee ballots. Some states permit ballots to be received several days after the polls close.

How Long Do States Legally Have to Count Ballots?

Pennsylvania allows ballots to be received three days after Election Day as long as they're postmarked on Election Day or earlier. Wisconsin offers six days with the same criteria.

The problem with your theory is it was 100% known this was going to be an issue, and in fact in several of those states it was the Republican led state legislatures that wouldn’t allow counting the votes until AFTER the polls. This was definitely the case in at least Michigan and Pennsylvania. Easy fix was to start counting earlier, Republicans blocked. The pollworkers literally had to sit on their ass and not count absentee ballots until after the polls closed (instead of having days to have them ready to go and counted up through anything received before Election Day, which is what Florida and many states do).

Republicans of course knew this, and it was part of their game, which was why they were pushing “day of” voting in a goddamned pandemic. They knew the overall number of absentee ballots would be way up, but that they would slant liberal in that particular election (historically mail in ballots actually slant Republican). They also knew this would cause “day of” voting to be tilted far more toward conservative voters than usual. But if your message is “plandemic hoax” I suppose fvcjink with voting is going all-in on that. Sounds like your media silo didn’t cover those pre-election discussions on early and mail in voting.

Five hours is plenty of time to upload the data files and run the counting program.

Most states allow that. It is historicallY a very low number of ballots relative to the total. Given that they should know how many absentee ballots have been received out of those requested should make this relatively easy.

Absolutely no reason that ballots should not be counted by midnight in each time zone. If a state shows a high % of ballots remaining then an extension could be granted, but that should be based on an objective count of outstanding ballots.

This ain’t rocket science or neurosurgery.

How can they count all the votes in 5hrs if the polls accept votes 3days after the polls close? I also think there were far more absentee ballots in 2020 than in any other election. The reason is obvious.

And yet you still can't seem to understand it. You seem to think they just load all the envelopes in a hopper, press a button and, voila!, vote totals reported. States like PA can't start opening mail-in ballots until the morning of election day. The ballots must be hand verified via signature checking, etc. And there were an especially high number of mail-in ballots in 2020 due to the pandemic.
