    I agree.
But Love wants either Golden State or Chicago and will likely get Golden State.
I would just hate to see David Lee leaving the Bay Area for the likes of Minnesota.

Terrible deal? More spacing and better rebounding sounds pretty great to me. The only terrible deal will be that Lee has to go to Minnesota.

How is this not good for golden state? Love is an amazing player, even if David is a gator...

Terrible deal? The current GS roster has reached its ceiling. If this deal goes thru then GS becomes a legit title contender next season. Love is an elite talent and can help carry a team to a conference title. I am sure Steph Curry would love this deal.

why have they reached a ceiling? Lee probably isn't as good as Love, but he offers a lot of the same stuff except for the 3 point shooting, which isn't an issue for GS with Curry and Thompson. They can add other free agents. They are young so they can add through the draft. I'm a huge fan of Kevin Love, but they would be giving up too much for him and would still need to add. The Bulls would be a great place for him because they can't shoot the ball worth a lick...

Agree completely I love David Lee but Kevin Love is undoubtedly the better player but the gap between them isn't nearly as much as the gap between Klay Thompson and Kevin Martin, plus a draft pick. The Warriors growth next year is going to be based on Curry developing and Andrew Bogut staying healthy not this trade.

Klay is only going to get better. They are giving up too much, even if Kevin Love is a Top 10 player in the NBA...

I love David Lee but Love is the better player in all phases of the game, not just 3pt shooting.

I agree. Still they would be giving up way too much. The difference isn't as much as people think. Also, consider that David Lee is doing all his work as the #3 option on the team. Love is the #1 option. Meaning that someone has to score (see Bosh's numbers as Heat vs Raptors)

This has nothing to do with David Lee being a Gator. I do hope that all Gators have success in the NBA, but I won't root for a team just because they have a Gator on it. He is a legit double double guy. I believe he is an all-star type player.

Usage rate means a lot. The #1 scorer has a much more diificult time scoring than the #3. The gap between them is very large especially considering their ages. Love draws more fouls, rebounds better, defends better and scores more points.

Love had a true shooting % of .591 while using 28.8% of all possessions. Lee was .566 and 24.3 in contrast. That is huge gap. You can replace Klay Thompson but it's not every day you get to pair 2 top 10 players.

By the way, players this past season with a usage rate above 28 and true shooting above .59.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com...tat=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=1.0&c6stat=&order_by=ws

Two of those 4 on the same team cannot be passed up. There have been less than 50 of those seasons ever in the NBA. Using a lot of possessions and keeping a high efficiency is the most valuable skill in basketball since those stats are usually inverse: as usage goes up, efficiency goes down.

Not sure you can replace Klay so easy. He basically shot the 3 just as good as Curry did (44%-41.7%). Love is def Top 10 in the NBA, but Klay and D Lee are both Top 40 or so. I just think they would be better suited to try to find missing pieces than give up too much.

Always better to trade 4 quarters and get a dollar in the NBA. You can then sign another couple quarters because the dollar's salary was capped at lower than the combined salary of the 4 quarters.

Winshares of Martin and Love last year: 19.6 vs 13.7 for Klay and Lee. Love by himself has 14.3. Plus Lee is 31, oft injured and leaving his prime. Love is 25and entering his prime.

Nothing points to this being a bad deal for GS.

Basically it boils down to this: Lee and Martin are older vetarns who don't defend and won't give many more good years. They are throw away pieces although Martin's salary is more palatable.

The question then is do you trade Thompson for Love? Of course. Every time.

I agree that Love can be a game changer. I just am very high on D Lee and Klay. I think its too much to give up. Also keep in mind that Klay is only making 2 million so you can add another player at least for this year. They will need a 3rd star plus a couple of very good role players. They will need Bogut to be healthy.

But you might be right about it. I think terrible was the wrong word to describe it.
