Wasn't dillman our s&c coach last year? We managed to stay fairly healthy last year. Maybe it just BAD LUCK. This doesnt even usually happen to team with terrible or even no s&c coaches. This is just the perfect storm and extremely disappointing.
FWIW... I always read that recruits who visit UF for officials or non-offical visits are usually blown away by dillmans program. I read somewhere that he shows them before and afters of player he's bulked up..
I don't know, seems this kind of thing is impossible to predict (at least to this degree)
I just hope the players don't get fatalistic. The mentality of "who's next" or "it's just a matter of time" could potentially suppress getting "up" for the game. It is GA however, shouldn't require much to get excited. I remember when Patton got hurt last year, appeared to deflate the team a little.
Hey, enough with all the excuses. Injuries like this happen, and we're going to win this game no matter what. Btw, if our strength and conditioning program was better, we wouldn't have all of these freak injuries around here.
I say we fire Muschamp if Georgia pulls this one out.
Stretching does not prevent injury and nothing else you listed is going to stop an impact injury like a broken bone or a ligament tear.
Nothing is going to prevent a break like Driskel suffered.
Tolbert didn't specify what type of stretching, but dynamic stretching is a key component of warm ups before all rigorous athletics.
In another of these threads on DJ's injury, I linked an article on olympic training and knee injuries... full range of motion training (deep squats) is a critcical component of a training program to help prevent knee injuries. Programs that consistently have the athlete stop at 90 degrees contribute to ligament tears.

No trainer in the world is eschewing deep, ass-to-grass squats, though.
For the most part we're dealing with impact injuries. They're going to happen no matter how much glucosamine you down, how many deadlifts you do or how many times you pray to the injury gods.
I'm guilty of that last part, I didn't pray near enough to the injury gods! I think I screwed us this season!
I don't expect that either... but unless we're in the program we don't know what the training mix looks like. And it's different by position group and probably to some extent by individual.
Also, from my understanding most of these injuries have been non-impact.
I know nothing about the causes of most injuries. But I know that either there must be some way to at least reduce them or else some teams are just extremely lucky, e.g. IIRC FSU has had two serious injuries all year, one in pre-season.
Champ always talks about 'good on good' meaning 1st team on 1st team practice. I wonder if this is a bit too much on the bodies during the season. No expert or coach here just hear him talk about good on good practice every week and wonder if this is always a good idea. I also wonder if establishing rythm and confidence is hurt on our offcense by going against our 1st team d.
Doesn't bother me, our QB will still be a sitting duck, probably gets hammered by UGA and nobody will ask what our OC's reasoning is for week after week of poor planning.
No matter how you stretch it (no pun intended... exactly), the fact is a good s&c program can help prevent injuries. Some injuries are unavoidable; I understand that. But some are preventable. We seem to have an alarming number of acl injuries, which often aren't impact-related.
To say that our injuries are just due to dumb luck is guesswork. Anyone who says so definitively is speaking out of ignorance. To say that our injuries are due to improper conditioning is also guessing. Maybe it's a little of both. Maybe how we practice plays into it as well.
