A truck dumped a huge pile of manure outside France's National Assembly on Thursday in a protest against the French political elite.

The driver of the truck -- which was marked with the slogan "Out with Hollande and the whole political class!" -- was apprehended by police shortly after releasing his smelly load outside the front gates of the grand Palais Bourbon that hosts the lower house Assembly.

I'd love for that nation to start a new revolution... Who knows it might even spread to other countries like the Arab Spring did.

Will taxpayers have to pay to clean that up?

I guess it's only funny until you realize you will end up paying for the cleanup.

But it will offer a chance to complain about the bloated pay and pension of the workers that have to clean it up.

I doubt the cost to clean that up would be significant enough to warrant not doing it if it actually made a point that affected or inspired people. You would think those on the Left would like this type of thing.

A group of people banding together using a somewhat-shocking prop to protest the elite political-class.

I can't speak for the whole left, but I prefer actual organizing to pointless symbolic gestures.

I meant it mostly in jest, clearly all of the Left aren't the same, but personally, I have no problem with symbolic gestures as long as the effect they desire is gained. Personally I have no preference whether the protest is meticulously organized or a loosely-built symbolic gesture, as long as the end result is accomplished. After all, the protest isn't about the protest, it's about what happens after the protest.

Precisely. The story says they don't know why the dung was dropped, so the double taxation comment could use some additional clarification.

For further clarification the story claims they do know why, and they don't know why at the same time. First it states that the reason is to embarass the elite political class. Then in the last paragraph it says, ""It was unclear what was behind the protest." I'm assuming they mean there was no specific action by the government that spurned the event, but a general dislike for their government is seemingly the cause.

You'd need to inform yourself of what's going on in the world/France. And that takes initiative on your part.
