SEC to push TV network at league media days
COLUMBIA, Mo. • Southeastern Conference football fans have to wait 45 days until the season’s first game kicks off, on Aug. 28 — Texas A&M plays at South Carolina — but there’s plenty to talk about in the meantime, starting today at the expanded SEC media days in Hoover, Ala.
The 30th annual preseason gathering of media, coaches and players is expected to be the biggest in league history — and promises to be the longest. After surveying participants last year, the SEC decided to lengthen the event from three to four days, giving the conference an extra session to promote its biggest star for 2014.

No, not Johnny Manziel — the Texas A&M Aggie is now a Cleveland Brown — or even Alabama coach Nick Saban.

    It’s the SEC Network.

Both The Lakeland Ledger and The Tampa Tribune have reported in the last couple of days that Bright House Cable TV and the new SEC TV have reached a 20 year agreement to expire in 2034. In Lakeland it will be on Ch. 1150 HD.

I'm wondering how this is going to affect the PAC 10 and big 10 networks.

I guess they'll probably go out of business since just about no one will watch them anymore.

Everybody will want to watch the new SEC TV.

I know it's a small outfit, but rumor per TDS' twitter feed is that they'll have the SEC Network come August. I sure hope so as I really don't want to switch providers.

Living in Mississippi, I have to put up with CableOne antics. To date, they have not reached a deal with the SEC Network and based on their past performance with negotiations, I have doubts they will be able to come to an agreement. I am giving them until Mid August, then will have to change cable providers. Considering ATT Uverse.

As of Monday, 7/28 Directv is not on board. Had to ring them on a technical issue. At the tail end of call I mentioned they needed to get with it and carry the SEC Network. I got the talking points about how they are in negotiations, blah, blah, blah. I recanted with, "Dish TV is looking mighty good at this point. Tick, tick......you guys have 17 days.....make it happen.". Hopefully Directv gets it right.

I've mentioned this on another thread months ago... There is no way that I would get rid of DirecTv over the SEC Network. There is too much about DTV that I like. Not for a handful of third tier games and guys like Brent and Jesse going on and on about whatever. I don't watch studio analysis shows on any sports other than some MLB. Too many blowhards talking about nothing. That's my 2 cents.

Been with Direct since '96. They don't get the SEC network, I am gone. I will go to streaming before I would have otherwise, and will pick up the most basic service I can get from one of the other providers with the SEC network.

That doesn't sound 100% correct. It may be like Comcast where if you're in the SEC region it comes with a basic package. If you're out of the region, you'll have to go up a tier or two to get the channel.
