In what context? I am inclined to call BS on this, being that I have read two dozen volumes of his work. But if the promotion of over secularism was indeed his, how else can you explain for such theories propagated by a man whose only Higher Authority was himself? That goes as well for Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Ho Che Minh, and a dozen others who answered to no authority higher than himself.

The magnitude of murder and mayhem in the 20th Century dwarf that of all human history combined, and all the major players were acting not on behalf of God, but on behalf of godlessness...

And actually, many, if not most intellectuals fit that definition. They are obviously wiser and more learned than those simpletons of the past, most have no use for that "opiate of the People," and most have such conviction in their belief that they cannot brook dissent in any form.

Obama is more of a democratic Socialist. Cornel West goes closer to Marx than Obama does. At least Barry gives a nod towards capitalism, even if it as a tool to achieve his needs. Sort of like the ChiComs today...

Hey I'm with you on the Nobel prize.

And I think there is definitely a good amount of corruption in politics, but I think that it could be worse as well. And I have no real solutions in mind for this issue.

Trying to figure how Obama has been any more socialist then previous modern presidents

Government IS a socialist entity, anything they do is collectivist in nature

That being said, his major piece of legislation is a corporate giveaway in the name of universal healthcare, that was designed by self described conservatives, and first implemented by the last Republican candidate...

I don't know enough about West, but I think you might be onto something here.

Might be because Tea Partiers tend to be exclusive in nature, rather than inclusive like Cornell

Yeah I'm not sure that he has been more socialist. He did have Obamacare, but you're right that there was already Romneycare. And I think the republicans might have offered something like Obamacare while Clinton was pushing for single payer.

After that, he did meekly ask to let the Bush tax cuts expire (up to 39%), but this is hardly a high number in our history. He is pushing for climate change remedy, but his environmental regulations are nothing compared to Nixon's.

He is starting to seem more left to me than during his first term, but not the socialist that he is made out to be on this board.
