In what context? I am inclined to call BS on this, being that I have read two dozen volumes of his work. But if the promotion of over secularism was indeed his, how else can you explain for such theories propagated by a man whose only Higher Authority was himself? That goes as well for Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Ho Che Minh, and a dozen others who answered to no authority higher than himself. The magnitude of murder and mayhem in the 20th Century dwarf that of all human history combined, and all the major players were acting not on behalf of God, but on behalf of godlessness... And actually, many, if not most intellectuals fit that definition. They are obviously wiser and more learned than those simpletons of the past, most have no use for that "opiate of the People," and most have such conviction in their belief that they cannot brook dissent in any form.
