It looks to me that Cook and Lane are all in and will sign with UF.
Either they are all in or we are being seriously trolled... This would be an epic trolling in the same category as the recruit who ripped off a Gator jersey or shirt to commit to UGA (I think thats how it went down, correct me if Im wrong).
Even if Cook reaffirms his commitment on Thursday, I'm going to be seriously counting down the days until January 6th. He's the kind of guy you don't count in until his butt is in a classroom seat in Turlington.
Doesn't he have to sign a LOI?
Ripping a shirt off is one thing.
This is something else.
Which is why I don't think it is trolling.
UF has reached out to Jeff Jones and Jamil Kamara, clearly the staff isn't sure of Cook and Lane.
Okay, lets just simply consider him a Nole commit and see if he flips to us.
A lot can happen between now and signing day. What if Fisher takes the job at Texas? One of the reasons so many kids "open it up" a month or so before signing day, is because this is the time of the year when the coaches who have been recruiting them for the last fourteen months take a huge sum of money to go somewhere else.
Not to say that Lane to UF is a done deal by any means. You just never know, though.
It would pretty much be the same thing Dante Fowler did a few years ago down at the Under Armor game. He was chopping it up with Casher, Winston, Edwards, PJ Williams, etc. Taking pics and saying he was def going to FSU. Only difference is that Cook is an EE.
“I’ve been hanging with Ermon (Lane) and Quincy (Wilson),” Cook said. “We all three have just been chilling out here. Quincy has been recruiting me some but honestly he has backed off and we are just chilling and having fun out here having a good time.”
So if he is really committed to us, why does Quincy Wilson (UF commit) have to recruit him ?
But I do like him saying, "Coach Roper . . . . , " and "Gator fans should know . . . ."
Somewhat strange language and inconclusive signals, and may not mean a thing. Then again, it might. Then again . . . .
But if you really want to take this beyond obsession, you have take a deep breath of joy when he followed this up with, "but honestly he has backed off." So, if he wasn't really committed, the next question would be why Wilson felt the need to back off?
I wouldn't read much into the words or actions of an 18 year old.
I don't think they spend hours contemplating how each move will be perceived. They just do what they feel like at the moment.
You beat me to it I was coming with the same 2 exact quotes from that story. I will be quicker next time. Lol.
As I've stated previously cook is all gator. I don't believe we ever TRULY were at risk of losing him. It was always the plan as well as encouraged by our staff that he would take officials and it's pretty common that a recruit would become more enamored with a different school after being given the red carpet treatment upon visiting?
I believe this whole thing was contrived just to ruffle fans feathers. I believe that he was up front and honest with the coaches the whole time, it was the fans that were on red alert just reading certain comments about t-rob understanding him and the process as well as being able to "change" a program, etc. Even the ones to Spivey today have been pretty consistent. The young man wanted to see what it was like so he signed 3 FAA'S and endured pure craziness for 2 weeks.
But wait ! Wait !
What was Dalvin's voice inflection when he said that ?
I mean, could one read into Wilson's backing off, and infer that he recognized that it was all over and a waste of time to continue to recruit ? Or, instead, was Wilson simply satisfied that Cook was signaling nonverbally - without saying - that he was still committed amid the reports of his recent waivering and decommitting ?
We need parapsychologists, paralinguists, and phrenologists to interpret, immediately !
Take a look at his recruiting interview.
If you really want to know, play the audio from this interview backwards.
Marcus Stroud pullest biggest troll job in recruiting history in flipping to UGA
A lot of good it did him as he watched Florida win an SEC championship while Georgia never won the East during his time.
If the coaches knew that Cook was coming here, they wouldn't be recruiting any other backs, which they clearly are. I feel good about Cook, but there is no reason to believe anything is 100%.
Yup. It's why I keep telling everyone that we won't actually know until papers are faxed on NSD...
