Idiot Mom meets him in a store last night, lets him go off with her 8-year-old. By morning, the little girl is dead, the POS is in jail. This story breaks my heart.

Honest question...do child molesters ever rehabilitate? Shouldn't we just kill 'em all? Those that they violate invariably become molesters themselves so we should get it out by the roots.

I would guess the rate of recidivism is about the same as it is for other violent crimes.

Not sure what causes the psychotic break from molestation to murder though.

Sad story. Don't want to blame the victim but the mom let her daughter go off with a guy she just met at a Wal Mart on a Friday night at 11pm. That's some terrible parenting. Clearly the guy with his history is to blame and is a sick puppy, but jeez.

The guy was officially a sex offender. He'd been convicted of attempting to lure children, but I'm not sure he'd ever gotten hold of one before.

He lived (apparently with his mother) in a very nice neighborhood that I'm very familiar with. About a block from a middle school.

When I feel I've turned to being against the death penalty, I see something like this and really makes me think again.

He should be facing the death penalty....this is a special case for ol' sparky. The needle is too easy.

Not too often, which is one reason why so many states (and the feds) adopted laws allowing indefinite civil commitment after completion of a criminal sentence.

Just yesterday me and the wife went out on the patio and my daughter (6) woke up, looked for us and couldn't find us. She was horrified, she said she thought we left her. The look on her face was heartbreaking and I can only think that this girl must have been absolutely terrified during this ordeal. I get choked up when I think about it because it hits home.

They need to check this mother, because you would have to take my daughter from my cold dead hands before you even get near her.

The dude had some elaborate scheme where he said he was from Family Services according to reliable twitter. Prayed on a not so bright woman who needed to be protected not exploited. Feel so sorry for those involved. Probably good we have our justice system cuz I support good ole western justice.
