Conservative Play calling: A concern

    And if you really look at our defensive stats, off the top of my head, at least 2 td's scored against us were not on the defense.

    Coach has a simple guiding philosophy that he states very often, so it should not be a surprise: the goal is to win the game. So when we get a lead and can shut down the other team's offense, we run the ball and keep it out of the opponent's hands. Then we get the W.

    Saturday we were up two scores to start the second half, our D was dominating their offense, and there was no need to risk Murphy's health by having him hang in the pocket (which is how JD got injured). We have no real back-up for Murph, so protecting him is far far more important than making fans happy by running up the score for the sake of running up the score.

    3 TD's were off turnovers ... 2 pick 6's and the fumble on the 4 yard line at Miami.

    We have only given up 6 TD's total in 4 games, 3 of which were off turnovers.

    Only 6 trips inside the RZ allowed, 1 of which was the short field fumble at Miami.
