As much as Wisconsin hates pOSU, is this point in the plus column with having the Wisconsin AD on the committee, in keeping pOSU out of the Top 4? :)

I really thought they would have Lane Kiffen, Bobby Bowden and the ghost of Joe Paterno...so these guys are a little bit better I guess...maybe...

this is going to be a bigger mess than the BCS. this was a terrible idea. the actual bcs formula was great. it takes very important information into account, particularly strength of schedule, which us in the SEC are thankful for. it is not fair that ohio state plays 2 ranked teams all season, while we have already played 2 teams in the top 10 and will end up playing a few more. they should have kept the BCS formula and taken those top 4 and done the playoff. simple

Take a look at the readers' comments on the ESPN article.
    http://espn.go.com/college-football...acks-chair-college-football-playoff-committee

Look at all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the makeup of the committee that hasn't even been formally announced (let alone selected a playoff bracket) yet! Can you imagine how much screaming there's going to be when the four teams are selected at the end of next season? I see a train wreck.

Count me as one who said way back, that the BCS system should be used to pick the top 4. I dont get the change.

I keep thinking...if this committee is in charge in 2006, do we get the nod over Michigan? Or do they follow popular opinion and have the rematch.

No set formula for the committee members to follow in making their selection, so it's largely subject to the human factor, if I understand the selection committee process. Anybody know otherwise?

Most of these people have other responsibilities that will keep them from watching a ton of college football.
I want people who will take this seriously. Not people doing this for status or as a resume builder.

    Also Tyrone Willingham???? LOLOLOLOOLO
That is who I want deciding the national champion.

It's good to have a coach Notre Dame fired on this committee.

They should have taken George O'Leary. His resume looked great.

Hey .. they didn't ask ME to serve on the committee either.
Seriously .. I like Dr. Rice on the committee. She is the only female there btw.
There are a couple of assclowns in the group .. we agree on that.
But saying the BCS formula was a better method is where we part company.
Let's give this group a chance. I think they will do ok.

    They skipped me too. :joecool:

We don't have much of a choice but to give the committee a chance, and if we're going to have a committee, I've got zero problem with having Dr Rice on that committee.

But the BCS formula is an objective ranking system, and one that you can keep tweaking if you see a need to. It could at least be used as the starting point for discussions, and then if changes are needed, identify why.

In contrast, a fairly small committee with no guidelines, and people bringing their own biases (and agendas) is going to be very difficult to keep objective. Even if they start out trying to be objective which most probably will, it's likely people will start aligning, and the PAC and B1G reps with 6 members combined have potentially a dominant alliance. The SEC with three members and strong conference rep should have a seat at the table.... that's very likely three spots taken already regardless of who the best four teams really are. And that leaves everyone else scrapping for the fourth spot.

Perhaps it works out great, but I think there is a very good likelihood that's how this plays out. PAC and B1G will likely be happy customers. Everyone else, maybe not so much.

It will be interesting to see how the AP poll matches up to the committee poll if they put one out each week.

Even with the BCS gone all the other polls and computer rankings will be available.
