But...but... there's a guy on another thread who told me these big groups are the way to go, that's the future....

We have a large hospital up here by us that is more or less the Cleveland Clinic of our area, they even have a branch of Nemours. They recently cut 3% of their workforce, nurses, doctors, executives included. Again, they understand they will be asked by Obama to cover more for less money. Not good.

And speaking as a solo practitioner, if a group with the resources and the financial pockets of a Mayo or Cleveland Clinic can't absorb the blow, what hope does your local doc have?

Interesting piece in today's Morning Money....
JPMorgan's Michael Cembalest: "Obamacare has an 'original sin problem: for the first time in 100 years, one party crammed down a bill with national implications without any agreement from the opposing party. As shown below, whether the issue was civil rights, creation of entitlement programs, welfare reform, labor relations, tax preferences ... major (and at times controversial) bills of the 20th century were passed with some level of participation and consent from both parties in both chambers. Obamacare was not."

Mayo has asked budget managers to go through the excercise of 5%, 10% and 15% cuts.

It (ACA) ain't going to be pretty for millions of people. We are about to add 15 M to Medicaid rolls Jan 1st.

Power and control. Power and control.
The liberals are right about one thing, I do fault George W. for a lot of this. He was so willing to prove the "compassion" in conservatism that he got us deeper involved in education, and his well-intended measures to protect us that weakened our civil liberties opened the Pandora's box to the widespread abuses and disrespect of the Constitution we're seeing now.
We need a good, strong conservative to come out and put his foot down and restore us to our rightful position as leaders of the world again. Right now, all we have are a bunch of drunk sorority sisters in Congress running up huge bills on Daddy's credit card.

The cuts that need to be made are the payments to pharmaceutical and insurance companies. They have been looting the American public for decades. If we paid pharm companies the amount paid in other countries, there would be extra money to hire more healthcare workers (and pay them more). I pay a fraction of the price for meds abroad without insurance than I do here with insurance. The system is screwed up and the way the politicians see to make cuts is by cutting paying healthcare providers, not the pharm and insurance companies that contribute to their campaigns.
