And to think some folks don't believe Liberalism is a true mental disorder. This is yet one more point which proves it. Pathetic.

Displaying a nativity with a bleeding Trayvon?

    Hilarious!

Did you read what it's about? You can also go directly to the church's website to see past nativity scenes too.

Thanks for pointing this out. The artist is trying to do some good. IMHO, Jesus would approve.

Yepper--I most certainly DID read it.
A "Nativity Scene" does NOT include--in any form or fashion--Trayvon Martin or anything other than what was originally intended--the baby Christ in a manger, Mary, etc.
To pervert it--with good intentions or not(and that truly remains to be questioned) is absolutely pathetic. Period. And that is exactly what the church did in this instance--perverted and twisted it into something which does not belong.

    Of course you'd like it.

and no, I don't think Jesus would approve. I'm pretty sure Trayvon was not born of a virgin to save us from sin Nothing should be in the scene that takes the attention away from its true meaning. Whether it was their intention or not, they turned the nativity scene into a memorial to a human being. A human being I might add, that was probably not the best of moral characters. Those pictures you saw that depicted trayvon as a cute little kid were old pictures. the media never wanted you to see the real martin

Warning: Some signs by Martin are NSFW

    http://www.mrconservative.com/2013/07/21719-10-photos-that-show-the-real-trayvon-martin/

I want to highlight this: At the time of his death, Trayvon was actually 17 years old. And he was far from the innocent-looking 12-year-old shown above. He had a history of violence, drug abuse, and suspension from school.

So no, a person like that should not be put in place of Jesus in a nativity scene. No human should

To borrow from Bill, Geez Louise Chomp. As proven by previous posts you don't know squat about Jesus (though we all welcome you to find out).

Would you have approved if instead of Martin it was the Austrian young man killed by a drive by for fun?

What if the artist had somehow portrayed that 94% of black murders are by other blacks who are 13% of the population and account for 50% of the murders. That's nearly a 400% increase (for those posters whose username begin with cho.....).

Would you still approve, because that's the main issue that needs to be addressed. Sadly missed by the Reverends A & J.

Isn't objecting to this nativity scene simply PC?

Why not? Some people seem offended because they want it to look like they want it to look. But as has been pointed out on other threads, there is no right not to be offended.

I must say mb, I find it curious that folks who follow an ancient text that is chock full of metaphors object to metaphorical comparisons based on such a text.

I'm 100% positive that the Claremont United Methodist Church approves this thread and is hopeful you all email this to as many of your friends and family as possible.

"I am the way, the truth and the life. No One gets to the Father but by me."

    And the metaphor is?

BTW, did you read my link on the other thread on why the bible is the word of God? Be happy to find it again.

Edit: Just reread your post. To say that TM was sacrificed is a bit of a stretch don't ya think?

I would think comparing an all powerful supernatural deity to the human concept of a "Father" would be the metaphor in this statement.
