Would not argue one bit on either point. It is the mid-January claim that makes me skeptical.
Very much looking forward to him joining the rotation.
Great read and appreciate the link, 33hoop.
Thanks for the link. What a great read, and a great kid. Hope we can keep him, even for just a little while.
Awesome article and he is going to help us a lot. He's too good not to get playing time. Walker can really protect the rim. Going to make guys driving to the hole really think twice.
This and his finishing ability are the two things we need desperately from him. Young isn't a bad on ball shot blocker, but he isn't quick enough or long enough to block shots from the weakside. Walker can do that in spades. Also, our scoring in the paint this year from the bigs has been very inefficient. Part of that is the congestion (due to both lack of floor spacing and how defenses are sagging the paint to avoid hand check fouls under the new rules), but part if it is that none of Young, Yeguete, and DFS are great finishers around the rim. Young is okay on rim runs, but he seldom gets opportunities at that right now. Walker, though, can get up and finish in transition, offensive rebounds, pick and rolls, and even off the bounce from the elbow or baseline.
Does Walker get to go to New York with the team?
No. Donovan said he won't be making the trip in his presser.
rserina, having just read BD's comments, I must admit that your estimation of Walker's near-future contributions are probably a lot closer than my overly optimistic ones. But, hey, I can still dream.
This was kinda surprising, I'm wondering what the reasoning is for this. Seems like you'd want him around to at least feel more a part of the team and go through walk throughs.
Donovan and I participate in the same Pessimists Anonymous group.
May be part of the suspension. Not sure, though.
should he be suspended what is he allowed to do and not do?
practice? travel? etc
whether or not he would be eligible to play tonight, perhaps he is staying in town to work on drills or conditioning with someone like a grad assistant who is not making the trip.
That was my guess and if so that should be it in terms of suspension. Since it's allegedly for a impermissable trip to lawrence, kansas, wouldn't not being able to go to NYC be more than a fair payback?
Now, now. Lawrence is a lovely town. The best burger I've ever had I ate in downtown Lawrence.
Did they slaughter the cow in front of you? Were you able to eat it before the next tornado came?
Again, I really don't know. None of the other kids went on road trips while serving their suspensions, though I don't recall if they were at at the home games.
Hey...easy now. I was born at University Hospital in Lawrence.
Isn't that the hospital associated with the vet school? Big red building with a white door? Kinda like a barn?
Of course, of course, of course I am kidding. I like Lawrence. Now, Manhattan, KS...
Oh, Manhattan. That place deserves all the scorn in the world.
