In Franz's current story on GatorCountry, BD is speaking to the Ocala Gators, running down the never-ending list of guys in the infirmary. At the end is a bit of GOOD news, finally. Donovan seemed to be saying that Walker may be eligible on December 15. He'll be way behind, of course, but the sooner we can get him practicing, the better.

I'm not familiar with UF's semester calendar or anything, but I'd always assumed mid december because players are usually eligible once the fall semester ends.

Wasn't the original timing as practice on the 13th and then Memphis on the 17th?

Final exams end on the 13th of December. Here is the UF academic calendar:

And I have seen other stories having C.Walker playing against Memphis.

Assuming Chris does make it in, is the suspension still pending?

Yeah, I have wondered about that. I remember early on the story was he might be suspended some games by the NCAA for who paid for unofficial visits to far away places like KU. That talk sure has disappeared.

At the rate the NCAA is going I'm surprised the players will even have to be enrolled at school and attend classes.

Even with limited practice I think Chris could contribute right away, especially on defense. His athletic ability is off the charts and just by playing hard, he would give the Gators a solid 15 minutes.

I suspect like most frosh, he will struggle defensively particularly with foul trouble. Where I think he can help immediately is on the boards. I think he may well make some spectacular help defensive help plays particularly blocks. But frosh bigs often have trouble guarding a skilled experienced college big.

The beauty of having him though is he will be able to play without worrying about foul trouble, at least at first. He will be able to bring energy off the bench. If he gets in foul trouble, no biggie, especially if he has limited minutes. If nothing else, he will be a great rim protector.

Exactly as when Young backed up Macklin.

In every video I have seen of Walker, he seems to be playing against people at least 4 inches shorter than he is. So I am interested to see how he does in college. We could use him, for sure.

So, Chris Walker will miss the previous nonconference games against UConn, FSU, and Kansas. But what I find curious is that the Kansas game (Dec 10) falls on the Tuesday of Finals week. Usually, no games are scheduled during finals week.
