Is Walker living in Gainesville?
Yea Hill is based on speed and quickness, dude is just lightning fast. So if Wilbekin and Hill are both able to play but ankle is still tender, you think Billy plays Wilbekin more minutes than Hill because of that? I mean Wilbekin is a quick guy too but Hill cuts much hard than Wilbekin and goes one side to the other really fast and his game is more based on that style of movement than Wilbekins it seems.
Great news! I love Walker's game and his upside is off the charts. Kid can fly and can protect the rim in a way we haven't had in awile. Best part is he can slowly be moved into the rotation and can help right away with his off the charts athleticism.
Close--37, but a technological idiot.
he hasn't played one minute and is the highest ranked gator on the draft boards. its worth getting excited about.
anything to Franz' comments that Walker may still be suspended a few games due to the Kansas trip?
I'm obviously not the coach, but based on what I've seen so far of both players healthy, Wilbekin is way farther ahead than Hill at point guard. With Frazier and Prather playing at such a high level, I think Hill will come off the bench for a while, but he'll get a lot of minutes.
It is hard to contain my excitement right now, if this is all true.
We need good news in a bad way.
As far as point guard play goes, I think Kasey was making better decisions with distributing the ball, particularly on the break. Scottie has struggled with that quite a bit since returning, but I suspect it's maybe just some rust he needs to shake off along with needing to get into game shape while playing a TON of minutes he wouldn't normally have to.
They're 2 very different players as far as style goes, but you're probably right as far as Hill coming off the bench at the point, which will have Scottie playing off the ball some. It's just going to be nice when both are back and we have the quality guard depth we need to go deep in the tourney.
SW might be a go but don't expect him to be a 100%.
Frankly I wouldn't risk either Hill or Scottie in a non-conference game early in the season. More important to get them fully healthy.
We can certainly use another big and Walker can provide that. I know nothing of his situation, but I am assuming he has given advanced knowledge of our system and has been getting private coaching on it from someone outside of the Gator program.
To start, yes, though I would qualify that by saying Hill's last two games were off the charts really in terms of how he was running the show. Granted, it was against relatively poor competition and he still didn't get his shots going, but the create was creating for everybody, taking care of the ball, getting his points in the paint, and wreaking havoc in the press.
yeah, no question to me that Hill has shown a higher level of play than Scottie this year as far as finding open guys and running the offense. Scottie is tough and experienced, and he's a solid point guard, but he doesn't have Hill's court vision or passing ability.
if it were up to me, Kasey would start once he's fully healthy, but I'm guessing Scottie will probably be the starter based on his experience level. Can't really go wrong either way, though. I think we'll probably see a lot of Hill-Wilbekin-Frazier playing together as the year goes on, too.
35 years! You must be a rocket scientist. I've been paid to use one for about 25 years and they were quite slow back then. Programs that now take half hour to run would take all night then. I can only imagine the use of super-computers 35 years ago.
Kasey is the best pure passer we've had at point since the title teams. The kid just sees the floor so well. 4.5/1 assist to turnover ratio. Once the game slows down for him, the kid will be nasty. Has very high basketball IQ. Also, he knows how to lob to Walker, so those two will give us some very pretty alley ops soon .
We did have Nick Calathes after the title teams.
Yes, but I think Hill is a better passer still. His highlights are simply stunning. Calathes is awesome in his own right, but I think Hill is a future NBA stud with his vision. Watching his highlights and the passes he makes just drops you jaw.
Maybe its just me but there was something I didn't like about Nick. Something about him seemed selfish. Probably unfair but thats how I feel
IMO, Scottie has doen the better job. We can disagree, but I think that Kasey has a way to go to get to Scottie's level as a player.
