    It's utterly amazing how many people don't even understand that the deductible is part of the overall out of pocket expense when they calculate there new healthcare payments.

    But Fred, don't you always say "Bush lied and people died". Obama clearly lied (remember the poor schmuck who made the video and got tagged with the blame and tossed in jail) and people died. And it's a non issue? Is that not hypocrital? Or is it just Fred logic, which means it makes sense only to Fred?

    The average American is a dumb simpleton who can't see past the tip of his nose. He can't do long division, read past the 9th-grade level, or tell you basic facts about history, politics, civics, etc. He/she is, to put it bluntly, a mucking foron.

    Concepts like deductible, premium, 80/20 or 70/30 are completely lost on him/her. Worst of all, he/she is either too stupid or too proud to ask for help understanding what all this is. It is part of why most people don't save money, live off credit, and own houses and vehicles they cannot afford.

    The average American thinks he/she asks more questions and scrutinizes more than the generations before them, but in fact they ask the wrong questions. He/she is easily swayed by a smooth talker like Obozo, who promises dependency, lack of accountability, and most importantly "pie."

    Fred, that wasn't your take on Bush, when he claimed there were WMD's in Iraq and EVERY major intelligence agency in the world agreed. So, give us your standard and quit being a hypocrit.

    Either Obama (and Bush) lied and should both be held liable for those lies, or they had bad intelligence and should both be given a pass on their subsequent actions.

    Of course I do- I just think theyare looking to pick up some of the more conservative viewers that Fox is getting and rhey see Fox's huge growth in the cable news market

    I think, if anything, CBS is reading the writing on the walls. I don't remember the specific numbers, but a recent poll showed that a lot of Americans don't trust what they see from the networks. And given the way they just went in the tank for this President - one going so far as to basically position itself as a liberal network - how can you blame them.

    Having worked in the business for a while, I think I've got a pretty good handle on the motive. Yet that doesn't address the potential problem once this Presidency is over (and provided Booker doesn't make a run). CBS (and CNN as well, IMO) is just trying to position itself as relevant once the PC insanity tied to this administration passes. And it will pass. Things like this always do.

    I'm sure it's lucrative, but basic cable ad rates are pretty cheap compared to network evening news rates.

    I'm talking radio more than anything. Yeah, it's cheap. But they're buying a ton of it.

    And I'd be curious about the former and wondering if they are just basing this off the old model where people actually sat down at a specific time to watch the news. I mean, if they can get those rates, great. But I personally wouldn't waste my time. I think there are better - more targeted - ways to reach prospective clients, even if it's just image advertising.

    But these guys aren't stupid, so I assume the return is good enough to justify the cost.
