Haha, he still can't and neither can Wall. But they can pass.

Casey can drive, defend, and is shooting better every game.

Yes, but if Frazier, Wilby and Dorian continue to prove > 35% from the arc then teams will not be able to sag and I see Casey being a monster crashing the offensive boards (Dorian has shown flashes of this as well) getting easy put backs when teams double our bigs, Parsons lived on the follow up slam during his senior year, now we have two guys ( C Walker makes a third) who can play above the rim, dare I say that is a match for what UK has been able to. Do to us the last few years.

May this be an ever growing thread…

just watched JU game on gatorvision, wow! That was the best I've seen the team play, but Casey especially. That man even has amazing ability away from the ball with the setup passes!

Casey has always had this first step and slashing ability, but the big difference I see now is him recognizing when to do it and when NOT to do it. In previous seasons, he might have passed it up or worse, take it to the hole when there was no chance. His awareness is so much higher now. Really fun to watch.

What I love most about DFS, by the way, is his rebounding. He had the reputation of a scorer, but I didn't know he could grab rebounds by the bucketful like he's doing.

Like others have said, there's almost no way Casey can play 2/3 in the league with his current stroke. Somebody said "well but he's a freakish athlete" - he is, and I agree that's the reason we're even thinking about the possibility. But freak athleticism isnt enough - look at Flight White's career arc (or Gerald Green to a lesser extent, and both those guys can/could shoot a lot better than CP).

I think it's awesome to watch the season Casey's having - he seems like a great, team-first guy, and he's been our best player this year. I just don't see his current skillset translating to the NBA without major, major improvement to his shooting.

Probably a mixture of Yeguete, Young, and DFS. I don't feel great about that matchup at all, but Yeguete is strong enough defensively that we'll get by.

Yeah. I remember calling Casey "crash" because he was always good for a great collision or two in a game. He already has two or three concussions on his resume'. Now he seems to have better awareness as you say and maybe a little more body control. He's always been the most athletically gifted Gator on the court and now he is learning how to harness that athleticism to make plays when the opportunities present themselves instead of forcing things when they are not. DFS, Wilbekin, Hill and Frazier II should open the court and give him some lanes to slash to the bucket.

He's already done at least 2 or 3 times tonight against fsu what those in this thread said he couldn't do against bigger teams.

Casey reminds me some of Maurice Harkless from St. John's a few years back. He also had zero jump shot and was a mid first rounder.

Someone said in previous post that they doubted if Casey could slash against the better teams and get to the rim. Well, he did really good against the biggest team we will face this year. What amazes me is his ability on those 3' to 5' runners. He is really playing great.

He's a freakish athlete and smart. He'll do well in the league. Not everyone in the NBA can shoot.

One big thing for Casey: he's greatly improved his free throw shooting. Year-by-year:

    2010-2011: No free throws
    2011-2012: 39.3 percent
    2012-2013: 58.3 percent
    2013-2014 (seven games): 72.5 percent

You don't want to overreact to seven games, of course, and we're likely to see some regression in that statistic. But for a guy with Prather's skill set, being able to drain free throws is huge. He's going to draw contact, especially with the new rules emphasis, and those are free points we're going to need in big games.

FWIW, his scoring average is up to 19.1 points a game. I know it's early, but I don't remember a player averaging that many points at any point in the season for years.
