Muschamp was a d-coordinator and is learning on the job. In a couple more years he will be more seasoned.

Or the 3 QB non sense which resulted in John Brantley lining up at WR in some plays

I think Gilly lasts in the league longer than both of them combined

Not to mention the reps in camp with Driskel out, even going back to last week with Driskel's knee ding. But again, it has been three quarters--against the same team that Driskel scorched in Knoxville last year.

This could be true but a big part of that has nothing to do with talent but off the football field stuff

Probably because he is a better fit for the pro game. But that doesn't necessarily mean he was ready to play or was a better option than them in 2011.

Probably because he thinks he's going to get bashed for questioning the coaches. Around here, you have to tip toe on egg shells.

The one legitimate gripe to be made with Boom re his offensive evaluation is that he seems much more willing to TRY kids IN GAME SITUATIONS on the defensive side of the ball than with the offensive personnel.

I'm hoping this experience with Murphy opens his eyes a bit as with the little bit of tape we have I think Herndon is a better tailback for this offense than Brown and Jones. He may not have their intangibles but his vision seems to be much better and when you watch tape on our past three games both Jones and Brown are leaving yards on the field for lack of vision.

Actually he was. He should have been starting since his Sophomore year. That pass blocking criticism is so old and pointless. We are taking about Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps, two guys who got ran over in blitz pickup. Neither RB did any kind of work against a good opponent. They should have been change of pace backs while Gilly should have been the starter.

I am pretty optimistic on Murphy's play because of those reasons. I think it is interesting many of the poster praising TM were asking to play Staver & Mornhinweg and are now not giving Muschamp credit for at least having a back ready to go and win a football game.

Those 15 or so practices with the first team are huge now. He is a little different QB than Jeff but he certainly has a skill set Pease can work with. They are going to have to run him and not be afraid that he might get hurt and Mornhinweg will have to play. We have seen a team rely heavily on the defense and go far with Jordan Jefferson & Jarrett Lee. Tyler has a little Jordan Jefferson in him

Actually it does have to do with talent. If you are NFL good, teams will look the other way. A backup who does something stupid and would have been lucky to make out of preseason this year? Nah, he wasn't lasting long. I like Demps but he never had a shot at making it in the NFL outside of a return man and I guess he wasn't good enough at that

I agree with NFL good they will look away but Rianey is on that team if he doesn't have that incident. I dont see Gillie getting that many carries in his career unless he changes some things. Has he got the ball yet this season?

I don't believe he has but I expect to see him at some point. Lamar Miller has been disappointing and Daniel Thomas is Daniel Thomas

    Ditto!

Murphy still has a lot of proving to do to become an example of such, but the examples of great players only getting their chance when someone else got injured are legion.

Should we question Belichick's ability to evaluate QB talent because he started Bledsoe over Brady?

What Yankee manager was playing somebody over Lou Gehrig until somebody got hurt?

And, did you see Robbie Benson win the game when they finally let him play?* :joecool:

You know, I thought of this at work today and meant to bring it up but forgot. It's the absolute best example anyone can give.

You have a HOF coach sort of serendipitously discovering a HOF QB. Unbelievable!
