8 points, 5 boards and an assist from a walk-on in a highly charged emotional game against a solid FSU team.

He has saved us. Our rotation is deathly thin right now due to injuries and he is our seventh guy. We can't really run our stuff with him offensively, but he gets great garbage buckets and boards with his effort.

He will almost certainly get one next year, but most coaches don't hand out mid-season scholarships, especially if they might take a mid-season transfer for something.

Wouldn't have won without his contributions. What a gamer!

Love the kid. Good job. His teammates seem to love him too. That and one was a thing of beauty the way he took it strong into the chest of the big!

Also, did anyone notice him lead the break and drop the dime on the run to I think it was Prather or Finney-Smith? Thought I was watching Joakim for a second there leading the charge haha.

Couple of additional points on him.

First, it was his 3 point play tied at 42 that gave us a lead we wouldn't give up again. And that was a point we were dragging.

Second, watch him of defense, he always shades his man towards his help and does a great job of defending without fouling.

He is the definition of a role player, but always does what he is asked to do well. We are usually a better unit when he is on the floor.

I see Jacob being an Adrian Moss player for us. At some point, he's going to be called on and come through.

Wouldn't you love to see him with the talent of Harris.

Let's not go overboard here. Jacob had a pretty good game and he is very smart on the court. I feel great for him. This must be like a dream come true.

He had a great game for him scoring and mixing it up on rebounding, but he got out of position fairly often on D.

I know Jacob and I am sure that he knows when he messed up. If he doesn't Coach D will tell him. ;^)

He has a knack for getting those garbage baskets. I wish Patric Young would get more of those.

He had a great game for his talent level, but if/when we ever get Harris/Walker, his minutes will drop. He only got points because they were basically not guarding him and thus not boxing him out. He took advantage of it today because fsu is undisciplined, but he wasn't able to in other games. He's better suited to be a 9th or 10th man at 5-10 minutes a game, not the 7th man getting 20.

He gets exposed at times. . .a bit slow to defend away from the hoop, and not strong enough to defend closer. . . But he works his butt off and rarely makes a mistake. As someone pointed out, he does recognize his shortcomings and does a nice job funneling the player he is guarding. I am thrilled for him.

Jacob is sort of a much-less-talented John "Hondo" Havlicek, the greatest garbageman ever. The old-timers will know who I'm talking about.
I love having Jake on the team and contributing quality minutes, but occasionally his foot-speed is seriously exposed. Late in the game, his man blew past him and Jake fouled him, stopping the clock and giving up two free-throws. FSU was back in the game, and Billy had to pull Jake off the court the rest of the way.

I hope my last post didn't sound like I was singling Jake out for his late-game breakdown. That was a team effort. I think every guy on the court had at least one glaring error in the last 4 minutes.
