Doesn't Comcast throttle Netflix speeds specifically? I had a friend who couldn't get highr res Netflix but he hat ~20mbps DL and tested at that, when he tried to play Netflix

That's some excellent speed. Other than speed how would you rate them overall?

I rarely ever have any outages only in severe lightning couple times a year. And it only last for a few minutes maybe half hour. They have been responsive to any service issues. Only had 2 issues, both my fault.

Thanks, I have been contemplating switching. We did have Time-Warner which is the experience I had with Road Runner and the modem issue. Since then Comcast has acquired it. My son has Comcast and swears by it so I have been mulling over whether I want to switch or not.

Their customer service is atrocious, they try to rip you off when you self-install. I've set up many networks and moved around my setup at home more times than I can count. But somehow I couldn't setup a simple modem/wireless router then plug that into my computer. I spent a lot of time on the phone with them telling them to turn it on at the pole but they said it is turned on.. So basically they sent a guy out that wanted to come in my house and touch my equipment (thats where they get you) but I refused to allow him in the house. I told him its not on at the pole and that I know exactly how to set this thing up. He went and turned it on and viola, internet access...

With that said, I would go thru it again for their speeds and reliability (in my area). I pay 50 bucks for 50mb but get closer to 60 most of the time. I also get TV with all channels and HD plus DVR, my total bill is 120 for the next 6 months.

    Customer service - (-10)
    Speed/Reliability - +10

Its a lot better than paying Century Link 70 (yes SEVENTY dollars) for 20mb internet.

It's not capitalism with ISPs because there is not a true free and unrestricted market. You have at most 3-4 choices in an area if you reach and consider expensive and capped mobile or satellite a viable option, and they all pretty much offer the same subpar service, though some are worse than others. They're doing everything they can to avoid being labeled a dumb pipe but in truth, that is what they are.
