It was telling his PG to pass the ball
His assists were up about 1.7 after the tweak, so that's not much of one.
Calipari is such a low life. Nobody in the media would understand. Really? Your shoot first point guard passing more would help the team? How novel.
So hypocritical to whine about the attenton uk gets and then to fuel the fire by throwing out this myseterious 'tweak' that he won't reveal.
and why did it take 30 games for him to tell his point guard to pass the ball?
Maybe it took 30 games for the PG to understand the term "pass the ball."
1.7 increase is actually substantial in college.
And he said recently during a QA on espn that he loves toying with the media.
Maybe if he spent less time toying with the media and more time doing his job his team wouldn't have lost 10 games this year. Why did it take so long for him to figure out a way to get Harrison to pass more? Why did he encounter effort and motivation issues with Poythress and WCS all year long? Not a good motivator, not a good teacher, not a good coach.
That has got to be absolutely the funniest thing I have ever heard in my life.
This he calls a Tweak?????????
Low life is perhaps one of the kindest of statements you can use to describe this person.
A more appropriate term for such a ridiculous phenomenon would be "Self-Aggrandizing," or perhaps Narcissistic. Which, by the way means: "tending to derive erotic gratification from admiration of one's own physical or mental attributes."
He sort intimated this a couple of weeks ago saying that he started putting Andrew Harrison (you know, the point guard) on the ball and Aaron (you know, the shooter) off the ball, thereby forcing the former to think pass first. Brilliant. I mean, it does defy the basic principles of the iso-based DDO in all of its NBA regular season glory, so at least he was willing to adapt to what actual college coaches do.
Narcissistic nails it. Calipari is the poster boy. "Toying with the media" is his way of explaining his need for attention.
He upped their pay.
Point guard? Pass the ball???
Brilliant! This rewrites everything we know about basketball!
Fundamental basketball is now "tweaking." Lol.. I still think he said twerking...
Hmm, I'll summarize this thread with countless others. Cal is a "lowlife" who can't coach, recruits (overrated) players indiscriminately, can't develop talent, can't adapt his system to his players, rolls the ball out there, can't motivate, am I forgetting anything? Oh yeah, he doesn't understand that he needs experience to actually win in college basketball.
All of this and he's made 3 of the last 4 final fours. Just made the title game with a team full of players that most of you wouldn't pick over the Florida counterpart save Randle - and did this playing 6 or 7 freshmen and a sophomore, knocking off 4 top 10 teams on the way...
You know how we feel about your coach, and we know how you feel. Why do you insist on starting an argument on every single post on a Gator forum that happens to be about your team? Your schtick is getting tiresome.
Cal is a lowlife, doesn't hold on to enough players to prove that he can develop talent, and has players that seem flat out disinterested for most of the year. He's proven he can do three things: bring banners down, recruit, and have his teams playing at a high level in march. Before he starts claiming "succeed and proceed" and "we are college basketball" he should remember that 3 out of the last 4 years his team has been outside the top 10 entering the postseason.
Cal definitely appears to be changing his tune about celebrating every early departure for the NBA. I think even he is growing tired of trying to handle the massive player turnover every year.
Thought it was funny that he chose a PG (Deron Williams) he's never coached to show his current PG how to play the position - rather than his celebrated top draft picks.
Seriously. What I've learned about REM is that he never actually wants to talk hoops. He wants to celebrate Kentucky. So, instead of doing what most articulate fans of a program might do on a rival board, such as explaining why this may have been a problem for Andrew Harrison in the first place, how the lack of floor spacing effectively disabled some of the passes he would ordinarily make, how the DDO itself prizes guards attacking the rim over distributing the ball, etc., he instead merely trumpets Calipari's accomplishments without acknowledging any legitimate criticisms.
I am sure there are some insightful Kentucky hoops fans, but they never show up here.
Daily double is a great rival posters.
I like REM too. I think they're both pretty civil.
I figure they can't help being Cats, so I try to be understanding (without sugar-coating my opinion of Cal's program model - where's that vomit emoticon?)
Some of the other Cat posters can be pretty argumentative...or downright rude.
Jeff is fine. He at least doesn't get defensive about the program because he realizes he is on a rival board.
