Some day the Chinese will make it up there and hopefully send back pictures of the flags and footprints we left up there, thus ending the moon landing conspiracy theories, or perhaps just starting some new ones...

Does anyone seriously doubt that we went to the moon? What purpose would faking that even serve?

The only way it was possible to achieve in the time set by Kennedy's goal was to use lunar orbit rendezvous and save every ounce of weight possible in order to accomplish each mission with only one rocket that could take all the fuel it needed with it.

The lunar module was so flimsy and fragile that you could have punctured the walls of the crew compartment with a screwdriver or even a pencil. It always had to be suspended with ropes and pulleys while it was being assembled and worked on because it would have collapsed under its own weight in Earth gravity. The crew compartment was literally a balloon made of aluminum sheeting panels riveted together.

The Apollo lunar landings were never really designed to be the start of something bigger like colonization of the Moon and going on to Mars. They were our answer to the Russians in a race for Cold War supremacy.

Which isn't to say that the engineers, scientists, and astronauts who pulled it off weren't an amazing group of high achievers. They were truly a gathering of eagles who believed in what they were doing for its own sake and wanted it to go on. They made a real effort to make these flights into scientific expeditions, especially the last three which carried the Lunar Roving Vehicles.

Project Apollo took technology initially designed to deliver death and destruction and adapted it into a vehicle to explore a new world peacefully. It was one of the few times in human history where swords were bent into plowshares on such a grand scale.

I personally don't believe it - I think we went. I'm just putting the argument out there that's all.

What makes the Moon landings so much more credible than a lot of other events that are questioned by conspiracy theorists is a mountain of evidence to support the government's claims.

A good friend of mine went through pilot training with Aldrin and they flew together in the Korean War. A few years ago they were sitting together at a Air Force Academy football game during a reunion. My friend called his grandson who was in AF ROTC and asked if he had ever heard of Aldrin. When the grandson said of course my friend said, "Great. Say hello to him," and handed the phone to Aldrin. Aldrin was very friendly and talked to a while with the grandson.

It can actually already be proven we were there by using lasers to bounce a signal off the lunar lander bottom that is still there from the original Apollo 11 mission, which, btw, my own older cousin worked on that lunar lander's landing gear when he worked for NASA.

Here's a link to a stockpile of government evidence to support the claim.

    http://www.apolloarchive.com/apollo_gallery.html

The "full Hasselblad magazines" are super-high resolution scans of every Hasselblad photo taken on the lunar surface by the Apollo astronauts, scanned from the original film. These aren't 2nd and 3rd generation images with degraded detail.

Here's a page about amateur astronomers who tracked the flights.

And a couple of the more convincing YouTube arguments:
