I finally was able to watch the Miami game again on DVR.

After watching the first play from scrimmage I had to rewind and watch it again.

Clay Burton comes off the left end into open space and breaks down, but there was nobody to block. He sees Driskel running toward his left, so he heads left, lowers his shoulder, ...... and tackles Driskel! He should get credit for an unassisted tackle.

The link below is the full game, and the play occurs at 1:40. Can someone insert a looping clip of the first play?

Wow, I just went back and looked at it. Not a good drive for him.

Driskel didn't make any moves or deviate from his line. To me, it looked like Burton just came over and took him out.

Well, Burton was clearly aiming for UM defender #22, and Driskel was behind him (Burton), so he (Burton) couldn't even see where Driskel was when he decided to start running in that direction. They just all (22, Burton, and Driskel) arrived at the same place at the same time.

It is a zone blocking scheme on the read play and he is taking an area. There was no one over him in the tackle box, so he is trying to find the closest man in his area. He had no idea where Driskel would be and they essentially ran into each other, but the play was contained.

We get it. Burton isn't very good, but we can't blame everything on him.

Want to know something, are the Burton brothers really that much better than a whole bunch of offensive Gator Players? Trey does not break many tackles, and he get 60% of the balls or so? maybe this is Christian why went to Louiville? the 2 TEs we have were top 10 recruits.

Burton is first on the team in catches because he runs the best routes and reads the zones best (very few of his catches come against man) despite never being a full-time receiver. Those two "top 10 recruits" (and by that I assume you mean "top 10 tight ends") are either 20 pounds underweight or coming off an injury that took away their entire season.

Oh thanks for the reminder that our only QB ran on the first play from scrimmage. Almost as smart as going for two in the 1st Q 1 point down. Sorry, this just won't go away!

Our two highly recruited TEs from 2 yrs ago are a r/s frosh and a true soph...the true soph is Kent Taylor who played last year late in the season mostly and showed flashes of being a really good receiver...I dunno the status of these two TEs...but I figured the other TE might end up on the OL if he can gain weight..as he was reported as being 250 as a high school sr...but we all know how inaccurate those measurements can be in reality.

Dont like calling out players but we have chance to win the game without the Burton brothers as harsh as that sounds...its the truth. burton did make one critical catch ion the game...but we needed extra OL blocker as much a receiving TE...UM stacked the line and we could not run inside for much at all. Everythings a top secret around the football offices these days and no one knows why someone isnt playing....but surely a tidbit here and there isnt gonna help the enemy that much...does it matter if UT knowsw who isnt playing? Doubtful...they got their own problems.

Man, it just wasn't a good game for anyone named Burton. First drive, 3rd and 5, Trey with the false start. Next play, Clay with the 15 yard penalty. Later, Trey with wasted plays in the Wildcat formation (not entirely his fault but I hope the Wildcat graduates with him this year) and the fumble and Clay with the dropped pass. Rough night at the Burton's.

Burton is a stud, you're crazy. He had a bad game, it happens. Clay, not so much. I have ZERO faith in him.

I never re-watch a loss. Never. Not once in my life.

What is the point? Are you going to look for answers hidden in the game film and text them to the staff?

To each their own I guess. :)

which mistimed call was the worst:

    (1) go for 2 on the first TD against miami
    (2) onside kick to start the second half against louisville

When did this happen? Last year Kent had two catches for a total of 5 yards, for the ENTIRE season. Clay had two catches for a total of 12 yards for the entire season.

Didn't Trey pick up the first down right after the false start? Plus he had 64 yards for the game on top of ~70 in the previous game.
