Not a great sign being "Work to Do" but that is on us.

Current trends say the Gators will indeed make the 2018 NCAA tournament with ease, and then they'll quite possibly be the single most mystifying team in the field of 68. Florida was hailed as a potential Final Four team in some quarters after it beat Gonzaga in double-overtime and took Duke to the wire in back-to-back neutral-court games in November. However, the Gators are just 10-8 since their win over the Bulldogs. In SEC play, Florida has paid dearly for an inability to convert opportunities inside the arc.

    FLORIDA (15-8, RPI: 46, SOS: 31)
The Gators have been one of the most up and down teams in the country. On the former side, they beat Gonzaga and Cincinnati in the non-conference portion of their schedule and own SEC wins at Missouri and Kentucky. On the down side, they’ve lost at home to Loyola-Chicago, South Carolina and Alabama. The good still comfortably outweighs the bad, but that could flip with a few more losses. The Gators have proved that their best measures up with some of the best teams in the country, but their worst seems to show up just as often. They have one of the most challenging remaining schedules, with two games against tournament locks, two more against likely tourney teams and three against bubble teams.

    Our bubble could pop!

We will be battle tested in the process.

Not too worried about it at this point. I'm just hoping for effort and energy, not wins and losses. Preferably wins but we need effort first and I didn't see it last game.

Thanks for posting this @ArtVandelay, though they aren't fun to see! I'm not concerned about missing because the last few years have shown that the committee treats good wins as more positive then bad losses are negative, and the wins Florida has are good. That Cincinnati win on a neutral floor is aging like a fine wine, getting better and better as the Bearcats have gotten up to 6th. And though we've had some bad losses, I don't think they are as bad as some think. Loyola Chicago is up to 56th in kenpom and 51st in rpi putting them ahead of NC State, UCLA, Providence, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, Oregon, Georgia, South Carolina, Minnesota, Stanford, Wake Forest, Indiana, Wisconsin, and many more power 5 teams. Again, not a great loss, but not season sinking. Thanks again for posting those articles Art!

    We have 5 tier 1 wins, 8 tier 1&2 wins- better than many ranked teams. A 6-7 seed right now . 4-5 wins/9 =tournament lock .

Losing record in last 10 games is also looked at by committee.

Emphasis this year is weighted toward tier wins over other metrics.

They stopped placing much emphasis on that a couple of years ago—too much variability in schedules.

As much of an optimist as I am I really don't know what to expect out of the team from here on. I am not down on them but rather I'm perplexed.

Careful. "How you finish season" is not well liked here in ref. To things Committee looks at.

And I'll promise you the human factor is still way up there....I see a team that is struggling and getting pounded by Georgia and enter the human factor. "Their not that good and they are regressing" that is what big time basketball coaches and insiders will tell you.

I think the next two are must wins... not that the wins help us all that much, but losses would kill us. Can't go 0-2 on the season against 2 terrible teams...

    This..........
My 2 cents: a 20-11 finish, we dance for sure. (Even with a quick SEC tourney exit).

On the not so good side: UF has been trending down lately.
The LSU win was great but the reality is that was a 12-9 team that the Gators played at home.

USCe is a really big game IMO. Fingers are crossed but like Hall I'm totally perplexed. Gonzaga / Duke seems like 100 years ago.

I will venture a guess regarding the dance. I think the best possible outcome would be to get to the round of 32 and that's if the Gators have favorable match-ups and shoot well. I just don't see a team that is so dependent on the three being able to win more than a couple.

We are the most Jeykll and Hyde team in the country. Nobody will want to play us and anybody might beat us.

We'd be that 10 seed no one wants to play if we're rolling.

The remainder of the Season and the SEC Tournament, as Always, will determine where this team ends up in various tournaments (NCAA, NIT, NONE), as it always has done. Nothing new here, although this year, there are several questionable losses to go along with several good wins. It's been a strange, up and down season for sure.

    Eggs back would be Wunnerful.
