Sounds like the BS is how the program is run in general.

the school's broke--they can't even afford to fly the team to away games and have to use buses

Talking about The reasons they are broke would probably land this thread in too hot.

They drove all night on a bus, arrived in the late morning, and played a game that day? Things like that should be corrected. If the school is too broke to let the team get a night's sleep in a hotel before an away game, they should drop football.

Just another sign of the times. Everything's rotting from within.

I have no problem with them doing this, but I'd have no problem if they decide to rescind every one of their scholarships.

750 miles on a bus before playing a game? Who thought that was a good idea?

Mixed feelings about this. Club athletes typically cover their expenses for travel and stay, and they don't complain about it and they compete on the road and return home. If you get beat, it's not because you had to travel, but it's because the other team was better than you on the field. At the same time, if these players signed with a team with the expectation that they would have certain accommodations available to them, then the school should have a means to provide these accommodations. Would love to learn more about their situation.

    Go GATORS!

All I know is they better not pull a stunt like this with the Bayou Classic game. I think Southern might need to start pulling together a list of possible replacements just in case.

    No.

"For the 750-mile trip to a neutral-site game in Indianapolis, SI.com reported that the team left campus at 6 p.m. last Thursday and arrived in Indianapolis at 9 a.m. Friday. Grambling lost 48-0 to Alcorn State the next day."

The game was at 4:00 PM Saturday, October 12.

It seems to be more than just a bus ride. It has been building for years as the program and the university has been defunded by the state.

Agree. They need a "come to Jesus" talk; "We are addressing your issues and we will get it taken care of. Anyone that wants out of the program you're welcome to leave right now."

I am sure there was some major mismanagement going on but when the school budget is slashed by 50% over 8 years.......

personally the school as a university should take priority over its athletics program. If it could not provide what was promised it should shut it down and concentrate on acedemics.

Curious....what was payment for traveling to the other teams homecoming?

Also, interesting read about weight room equipment that was needed was aquired but not used because it was the administration was suitably involved in process (it is sitting in storage). Sounds like a mess, egos, not alot of solutions.
