I know you're just posting what they're saying but double homicide?! Wasn't only one person killed? Am I missing something?
EDIT: Never mind. ESPN is reporting that he's being indicted for a double murder that is UNRELATED to the Odin Lloyd case. This would appear to be something totally new for a double murder that took place in 2012.
Two additional murders. The drive by shooting in 2012 was a double homicide.
Yeah, this is for the double murder. He was believed to have ties to it...but this seems to say he may have been the killer, or directly involved.
It's not really "new", this double murder was the drive-by shooting after a night at the club in 2012. Hernandez has been "connected" to the investigation into that shooting for a while now, they finally have enough to indict him on it now. He stashed the vehicle that the shots were fired from at his uncle's house for the last couple years, they found it with a dead battery while executing search warrants related to Odin Lloyd, and it matched the description of the vehicle used in the drive-by.
Is there a way we can remove him from our records? What a POS. He's gonna burn.
Btw, the indictment says he was the driver and the killer and then went on to play the season. He's officially a suspected serial killer.
He has been removed. Piece of trash.
What a waste. I don't understand it, and I probably never will.
You don't understand how someone can throw away living the life of a beloved, extremely wealthy NFL pro football player rather than spend their life in jail for killing people?
Good. And you should not. I don't want to know a person that can understand that.
Good thing we're not winning right now....
That'll teach him.
I told myself I wasn't going to comment on this because I'm so sick of this idiot. However, if there was ever a time I wished someone could be stoned to death, this may be the time.
Geez, 14 posts on a news story before somebody finally posts a link to the news story for everybody to read? C'mon fellas, tighten it up.
From the Boston Globe:
Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly firing a volley of shots from his car into another car, killing two men in Boston’s South End in 2012, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.
Hernandez is accused of murdering Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado. The two men were shot to death on July 16, 2012, while stopped at a traffic light by someone who drove up alongside them in an SUV with Rhode Island plates and opened fire.
Hernandez now faces charges in three murders. He was already facing a first-degree murder charge in the June 2013 slaying of Odin L. Lloyd of Boston in North Attleborough. Conley had no comment on whether there was a connection between the double slaying and the murder of Lloyd.
Conley said that after a “chance encounter” between Hernandez, Abreu, and Furtado at a Boston nightclub, Hernandez trailed the men in his car. Hernandez then allegedly pulled his car up to theirs, firing a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson pistol “multiple times” into the car, killing Abreu and Furtado, and injuring a third man.
Conley said that investigators had been able to recover the murder weapon and the car Hernandez was driving.
Evidently the evidence (gun and car) turned up in the course of investigating the other murder that happened a year later. Chances are if he hadn't done the later one he would've gotten away with these earlier ones.
I don't get this. I mean, I'm embarrassed by what he's done since he left UF, and how it reflects on UF, but when he was here, he wasn't a murderous POS. He had some problems sure, certainly not a model student, but he didn't revert to his gang-roots, until after he left UF--not while he was here. (Tebow and urbs seemed to have kept him in check for the most part).
I'm not trying to defend him al la nolies/Rapeis, but just because he became (or reverted to) being a POS, doesn't undo what he did for UF when he was here.
Sorry...you lost me on this one. What does this mean?
We'd be getting unfairly ripped for it. Any excuse to tear you down when you're up is a good one. This one, however lame, is a home run to the calendar-challenged.
Yeah, what Spurffelbow said. If we were still raking in titles, you'd see UF mentioned much more.
Gotcha', and thank y'all. Guess it's kinda' been a while since we were on top--I almost forgot what it's like to be in the cross-hairs....
Had to cut off my previous post before finishing -- I have sort of an odd personal twist on this story about the earlier murders.
When the story first came out about Hernandez being investigated for those other killings as well, I read that both of the victims were members of a "Cape Verdean gang." That made me curious so I did a little reading about Cape Verde. I'd heard the name before but knew nothing about it.
Well long story short, I am now finalizing plans for a trip there this summer!
I'm sure that at some point during the trip it will give me pause to think that if a star football player from my alma mater had not murdered a couple of Cape Verdeans, it's doubtful that I would have been inspired to visit there.
