Apologize if I missed it, but why did he not make the trip to LSU? Also this week?
I assume it is because he is now the 3rd kicker
How many weeks are we going to LSU?
because he is not a very good kicker. missing a extra point wide left is not very impressive. its actually hard to do.
Missing a kick appears to automatically put kickers in the dog house for the coach.
Lol that last part is hilarious. "It's actually hard to do"
gator4life, i used to kick in high school and im telling you , being that close its harder to miss. you have to really screw it up to miss from so close.
I believe it, trust me. I was dumbfounded as I left the swamp during his miss. I laughed as I walked up the steps. Saying, "How can you miss an extra point as the kicker for the university of Florida"? Hell, anywhere! Just plain embarrassing. Still confused on Chrsity. Feel terrible for him. He went from the best to worst in half a season. (Though I think he'll be back)
i hope you are right about christy, that would make me happy. he was lethal last year.
Remember this? Leave it to us (and the refs) to save Bama the same embarrassment and hand them the game. My reaction to the end of this game got me banned from whatever chat room I was in at the time.
From Muschamp's post game press conference after LSU, he may be in the doghouse also.
You obviously know nothing about kicking. Otherwise you would understand.
Welcome back after an extended absence Coach. Where have you been?
Who are you referring to that doesn't know anything about kicking?
Sorry Jax, but you said you really have to screw up to miss that close ? I'm willing to bet the farm if you really did kick at the high school level you screwed up several times according to your logic.
If you had hit all your extra points and been consistent on field goals you would have been kicking at least at a college Div. III school. It doesn't sound like that happened.
I always have to laugh when fans make goofy statements and think it's so easy. I've put several actual players or athletes to the test that think it's so easy. Let me just say, they didn't do very well and some of them were excellent athletes.
I specifically remember one LB who's name I will not mention who starting whining about how his knee hurt after only kicking 8 balls. He missed every kick by the way.
In college and the pros you want to get the kick off inside 1.4 seconds. Leach used to get the ball off in 1.2 sec. or less. With all due respect, I'm quite confident neither you nor gator4life could do that if your life depended on it.
Sorry boys....I kicked in HS....nothing is automatic! Everything must be in sync. The snap, the hold and the kick.....and the blocking! The kicker always gets the blame even if the snap or the hold is bad. Also, with a bunch of "know-it-all" fans like we have on this forum.... nobody ever gets the benefit of the doubt!
Thank you, and I believe you really were a kicker. Unless someone has done it, they have no idea what is involved. The snap, hold, and kick, is the most precisely timed play between 3 guys than any other sport that exists.
I will argee with you on this one!
How have you been ? Yes, it has been awhile but I like to check in every once in a while and see how you guys are doing.
Jag, I just turned 63 and am retired now and live in Europe. I must admit as an ex-kicker and coach I still have it in my system.
I saw all the posts about your punter so I've watched him. I have to do it on live stream cause they have a different form of footbul over here. Even though it involves kicking it's boring as hell.
I should keep my nose out of it but when I see someone struggling I can't keep my mouth shut. Your punter's problem is not uncommon and an easy fix.
He's not allowing his weight to transfer to the plant foot before contacting the ball. He's pressing for power not realizing that he's actually losing power by trying to kill the ball. What this all translates to is his timing is way off.
Look at his film last year when he was crushing the ball. Note how smooth he is and how he flows to the ball. Now look at his punts this year. He's jerky and he makes the mistake of jumping off his plant foot. You lose power when the plant foot leaves the ground. Basic physics.
Hey CoachR, Christy's dad actually posts on here fairly often if you didn't know. Maybe you could drop him a message. I think we all want to see him regain his 2012 form.
