Now you're very close to crossing a line that might get you a time-out. Be careful there dude.

"Might should have listened." Lol... Brilliant!

Well, that is what the statement literally means. It's what got Dan Quayle mocked for his "fellow astronauts" quote.

What does it matter if the exact word was used. That's nothing but splitting hairs. The gist of the word is that the Tea Party will bring the Republicans back (if they ever were) to a conservative base. If you have not seen posts of that sort then I would say you have not been paying attention.

The reason I responded initially is because both sides are guilty of vilifying the other side and routinely bring them up. Pointing fingers and saying only "they" do such and such is simply not accurate, it doesn't matter who does it.

Whatever, dude. I know you do like having real debates so, I'm really disappointed that you'd jump into this non-event.

I was just a bit entertained by the idea of you opening a speech with "I'd like to welcome President Obama, members of Congress, Van Jones, and our fellow communists."

Actually that, what you wrote above, is not quite correct. Here it is below.

It's okay to just admit you misspoke, or simply ignore it. Either is certainly less embarrassing than not realizing it. It wasn't meant to be anything more than a joke, we all know you're more of a fascist than a commie.

unfortunately I think they have to vote to raise debt ceiling but they could do it and include in the bill to do so some strict cuts in spending and the doing away with base line budgeting

true-but it does not take away from the fact that we have to stop over spending by over a trillion a year

I get that but the President uses his pulpit to scare the American people and not be transparent.

Treas sect can and has. The shutdown is a joke. It represents a small % of Gov't and boils down to petty politics in re: parks, war memorials, threatening SS even though it is seperate.... Ironic how much $ is being spent on ACA roll out. I wish the press would call BULLSHIT ON BOTH PARTIES.

Treasury can reorder payments to a point, but they all have payment deadlines and he lacks legal authority to continue not paying them when those roll around. So while we won't default ON Oct. 17 (contract invoice payments can be pushed out 30 days rather than paying as invoices are received like they typically are, which temporarily frees up some funds), we would in fairly short order thereafter.

And re: shutdown, um ok? That has nothing to do with debt limit. And while shutdown doesn't affect SS checks going out at all, the debt limit does if it isn't raised by late October.

Yeah, I don't see anyone allowing it, but it feels like everyone's waiting for someone to blink first so they can feel they "won". No winners in this.
