Sounds like this Tea Party fantasy is going to come to an end.

Boehner tells Republicans he won’t let the nation default

House Speaker John Boehner has privately told Republican lawmakers anxious about fallout from the government shutdown that he would not allow a potentially more crippling federal default as the atmosphere on Capitol Hill turned increasingly tense Thursday.

Boehner’s comments, recounted by multiple lawmakers, that he would use a combination of Republican and Democratic votes to increase the federal debt limit if necessary appeared aimed at reassuring his colleagues — and nervous financial markets — that he did not intend to let the economic crisis spiral further out of control.

He's right... he'll pass all the spending except for Obama-scam. Just like he's doing right now.

Erm, you do know what the "combination of democrat and republican votes" means correct?

This is Boehner confirming, as I speculated was likely the case a few days ago and part of why he's not waiving it on the CR, that he won't apply the Hastert Rule on the debt ceiling bill.

If you think he's afraid of losing the majority as a majority then you're mistaken. He only has to worry about a couple of RINO's. One for sure is congressman Peter King from NY. That's because he's afraid of his liberal state voters' wrath. That is the typical RINO for you. But all of the 80 plus new Tea Party conservatives, and then some, have no such fear.

He's saying he'll bring a bill to the floor even if it doesn't have the support of a majority of the majority, that's what the "use democrat votes" refers to.

The very basis of the Hastert Rule, as Newt explained it a few years ago, is that the GOP "shouldn't have to use votes from the other party to pass something." Boehner's reference to "using Democrat votes" is an explicit reference to not following the Hastert Rule.

So sleep well counting "RINOs", if true that means once we get to the vote that really matters, it could take as few as 17 of them to undermine this stupid suicide pact the wing has us in.

No worries, Ben everything will be okay soon enough. And in the end we will still be a free Republic with liberty and justice for all, including our fellow commies.

at some point we have to cut our spending-I am always amazed at you libs who seem to think we should just keep spending a trillion+ more than we take in-you are the same ones who think it is ok that 47% of our country pays no income tax-I will never understand your thought processes or why you cannot seem to grasp that the road we are on is unsustainable

    Gatorrick is simply namecalling again.

Gatorrick simply resorts to that when he is in the wrong and trying to divert the topic.

You libbies can get yourself lathered up over the supposed Pub circular firing squad, but in reality, this is only a huge issue inside the beltway. If one watches cable news (including FOX) or national news, one would think the nation is up in arms and wants to lynch every pub they can find.

Actually, out in the hinterlands, it is a non issue, and those being turned away from national parks and monuments are blaming Doofus and the Democrats as much as the Pubs. And to Joe six pack, trying to get on healthcare.gov to get his "free" health insurance, that nightmare is owned by Doofus. And for all of the rest of us getting our rate hikes, it ain't on Boehner.

Nate Silver (who you libbies worship) still has the pubs at 50 or 51 Senate seats and gaining seats in the house. Doofus is already neutered through self inflicted wounds but if the Senate flips, he may as well start negotiating for his book deal and shopping for real estate in Hawaii, because he will be ignored for remaining two years of his presidency.

libs getting lathered up about a GOP circular firing squad pales in comparison to the board cons going into their ritualistic message board circular jerk.

message board circle jerk defined as
    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=message board

can put majority of con posters in this thread as #2, #4, #5, #6, #10, possibly #3

debt limit or no debt limit the country would not default. 250 bill intake a month vs 30 bill in interest a month... Each party's bs aside this is all farce.

Not really, the executive can't really legally reallocate funds (i.e. decide to stop paying for other things to make an interest payment instead), particularly now that the impoundment power has effectively been done away with since Nixon. Congress may be able to legislatively prioritize spending, but to date they haven't passed anything to do so.

Because the nation won't default. The claim of defaulting is one of the most B.S. claims used to scare people.

We wouldnt be in this mess if Boner had allowed the entire house to vote.

The Tea Party isnt even an R in name only as they are TPs, not Republican.
