Lemon then listed five essential reforms black men need to make:

    pull up pants
    drop the N-word
    take care of their communities
    finish high school
lower rate of children born out of wedlock by respecting women as you respect and honor your mother.

And lastly, and it is for every race: hard work is NOT a sign of weakness, it is a sign of strength.

    Poverty, Poverty, Poverty

Nobody wants to look at the real cause and how we can truly lift a people out of poverty, which dramatically reduces the effects that we point the finger at

All this stuff is just trying to put a bandaid on the effect.

And what is the real cause if its not getting an education, preserving a family unit and respecting yourself and those around you?
Seems a pretty good start to this liberal.

108- you make me laugh- since LBJ and his war on poverty started the number of people living in poverty has gone up not down- and we have thrown billions at it-people have to want to elevate themselves out of poverty and you libs making excuses for them and trying to give them other peoples money does not help

You think lowering the rate of children born out of wedlock, respecting women and education are just a bandaid? 108 you have made some absurd statements, but this one takes the cake! How can you say that? What perpetuates poverty? Lack of education and children having children that they are not equipped to take care of or support financially. And, men spewing semen at every woman they see and then leaving the women and children to fend for themselves. Get out of your liberal blindness and face up to what needs to be done.

Every minority but one that has immigrated to the US has seen significant advancement after a generation of adjustment, Jews, Germans, Asians, Irish, etc. and I know that many of the original African American immigrants didn't want to be here. But that was in the 1800s

Why is that? Are the vestiges of something ended 150 years ago a perpetual excuse for a race to fail to lift itself up by its bootstraps?

Poverty is not an effect but a result.

I think its just the culture of AAs to not want aspire to something better. As long as uncle sam gives them low housing, food stamps, obama phones, and they pay no fed tax, heck it's like perpetual vacation. It seems for many that this is fine and dandy and they get to blame the white folk for keeping them down. They have a ready made excuse.
It's strange that florida has a large cuban population but somehow they seem to adjust, work and integrate into society. These people came with nothing (poverty) but refused to stay there. 108 you're barking up the wrong tree.

Along with the poverty, they didn't even speak the language.

One thing in human nature that plays into decisions is the martyr syndrome. Many people become attached to their plights (see underprivileged Muslims) and can't attach themselves to the idea of betterment, no matter what they say out loud.

It is so much harder to work your up than to complain about where you are or where you started.

For too many, that is the black culture. Perpetuated by the pimps they assume are leaders.

No, you want freebies for all the blacks that are poor. That just exacerbates the problem. The black men need to take responsibility for their own actions and that means staying in and graduating from school, and being good law abiding citizens by taking responsibility for their own well being. Only then can any of those poor black men hope to get themselves out of poverty.

Poverty is not an affliction... it's a cheap way of life.

Yep. Over $9 trillion dollars spent on the war on poverty and we still have the same amount of poor people today, because giving out free stuff in the name of "fair play" and "moral goodness" only increases dependency.
