Congrats to Coach, Mike and the entire team, this has been the toughest gold for the US to win over the years in hoops.....only 2nd title since 1991.

Lots of talented players on this team and Coach Donovan did a great job of getting them to gel and play together. He also did a great job of managing playing time. The defensive intensity throughout the tournament was fantastic. The whole team played well, but a few players in particular stood out for me: Aaron Gordon, Justise Winslow, and Jahlil Okafor.

Billy joins Lon Kruger who as then USA coach won this same title, then known as the Jr World championship in 1991(Craig Brown was on that team).
After Rio 2016 it would not surprise me to see Billy take over as head coach of the National Team.

He should have a shot at the Olympic team after Coach K retires.

I wonder if Billy D's success will help at all with either Winslow or Okafor recruiting. Okafor is in Chicago and perhaps Noah will have some influence?? The Gator athletic trainer was also the trainer for this team, so some familiarity there as well.

I had the same thoughts watching the game. Donovan is one of the greatest gators ever. I really hope he sticks around and coaches the Gators into retirement. The guy is and will be a legend in Gainesville.

I like it that BD didn't just stick Mike into the starting lineup, like a lot of coaches would have. Mike had to earn a spot and a role...but he already knew that.

I don't know if it's the case with the 19-u teams, but a lot of these international teams have played and trained together for quite a long time, unlike the U.S. team, which comes together only for a couple of weeks before play begins. Getting a group of talented individuals to play as a team on such short notice is a testament to BD's, Shaka's, and the other guy's coaching (when you're on the staff with two stars, you get to be "the other guy").

So nice to have a Coach who represents everything we want to believe in about sports. Firstly, represents the University with integrity and class all the time. Is a great ambassador for the sport and not incidentally, for the country. Cares deeply about the players from the stars to the backups. Oh, and he wins a lot too:)

Congratulations Billy and the whole U19 Team.
