This may have been discussed before, but is he the worst announcer for any sport on the planet? Absolutely miserable. I cant even watch the Bama UCLA game. Had to turn the channel.

And how the hell is he allowed to call a UCLA game especially? I'd be one pissed off bama fan right now. All he does is talk about UCLA past championships and history.

lol, all he did was rant about UCLA this & that, but especially about the Howland situation. What a bore, I finally quit watching, couldn't listen to any more.

Has anyone heard of a mute bytton? If you need crowd noise, record some off of a broadcast and play it. You don't have these clowns calling games you attend, why the need to listen to them during a telecast? MUTE THEM!!!

In fairness, it's much more difficult to call a game when you're seeing a half dozen extra players, a dragon and a giant white rabbit jamming out to the grateful dead.

I'm envisioning a dream team of Walton handling play-by-play and Vitale providing color commentary.

When you sober up, flush those drugs down the toilet. You got some of the brown acid. Do NOT take the brown acid.

It's too bad Bama couldn't sustain in the second half. A win would have provided a nice capstone to a much-needed strong Saturday performance for the SEC (UK over Louisville, Missouri over NC State on road, SC stomped a decent Akron team, home routs for Arkansas and LSU, a poor Georgia squad performed respectably against a ranked Colorado on the road).

It's what Bama has done all season. They've lost every close game they've been in. They're not a bad team at all, and I still expect them to do pretty well in SEC play, but they've played their way out of any postseason contention early on with all of the close losses.

That really is pretty amazingly bad scheduling.

Clearly, whoever made that decision should either have their pay docked, or be outright fired. Such a poor decision indicates generally poor judgment.

Lots of former players end up commentating, one way or another, on their former team. If its not done for the school, or at least locally, it needs to be done objectively. Why Walton gets a pass on this is beyond me.

I mute most sporting events. I can un-mute when something happens that needs further explanation. True statement.

It was a game long promotional for UCLA and UCLA basketball. It was utterly disgusting.

The truly disgusted party should be Ben Howland. Walton continues to crap on his legacy long after Howland was pushed out the door.

Walton use to be entertaining doing NBA games back in the early 2000s with Brad Nessler and Tom Tolbert. I don't know if he got fired or ESPN just didn't want to use him anymore but he disappeared for awhile. Every now and then ESPN throws him a bone with some crappy college game, usually UCLA, and he basically just mails it in.

The only time I enjoyed watching Walton on television was during the UCLA vs. Florida championship game. He looked disgusted every time the camera cut to him watching the game. The fact that there was no audio from him made it even more enjoyable.....

No. In fact, I don't even know what a bytton is.
