Never make a deal with the Devil to drive out Satan.
Why are we giving aid to terrorist supporting muslim countries to begin with?
Claiming he wants to give weapons to give weapons to Al-Qaeda while trying to reduce Hezbollah's shows he has no clue what he's talking about and neither does G8trGr8t.
This. Only a fool doesn't learn from his mistakes. We have stuck our noses where they don't belong only to have everything blow up in our faces enough times over the last few decades to figure out why this doesn't work. Syria is none of our business. We should have avoided meddling in there from day one. Now we're only going to make things worse.
Syria is of concern to the U.S. because of out interests and allies in the region.
agree with previous person and the comment regarding fools not learning from mistakes.
Thing is I believe we should be involved. But also learn from mistakes of the past and use other techniques rather than techniques that have proven to not work.
To simply say one method doesn't work so we shouldn't get involved is sort of like tossing out the baby with the bath water.
To go from foolishness of repeating same mistake to being foolish and not trying techniques---isn't really bright.
Thing also...We should as a nation reassess just what our interests are around the world in regard to whether it is an interest and how much of an interest(ie--just how critical is a particular interest)
I also believe we as a nation should reassess who our allies and neutrals and enemies are. In particular looking at those on our list of allies and see whether they have our back or not. If they don't support the U.S. we shouldn't support them in military and other matters. And relegate them to being neutral as far as whether they are friend or foe. Also look at neutrals to see whether some should be put in ally category and whether should be put in foe category.
Old, so you're saying we should give guns to known terrorist affiliates? Your allegiance know no boundaries. SMH
you don't seem to realize or recognize that there are opposition groups who are not aligned with AQ and do not support AQ way of governing.
Who are they and how do we know they aren't with AQ? Also, these groups are giving the US ultimatums saying if we don't help, they will form an alliance with AQ. If you go to any shock website, you can find many examples of the FSA killing innocent civilians and even priests/christians. When they get a hold of one of Assads troops, they torture and cut him to pieces, all while they film it.
These are the people YOU want to help? Get real.
Oh I guarantee you there are a whole lot of bad guys who are rebels.
that is why we pay for the cia and intelligence services. they identified the groups in Iraq that were willing to oppose AQ and those Sunni groups help run AQ out of big parts of Iraq.
if your home was being burned, your daughters raped, and your parents murdered who would you NOT form an alliance with to stop it from happening? Do you really blame them for seeking an alternative to certain death if the western powers refuse to help? What message does that send to any opposition inside Iran that may be thinking about rebelling?
No, I would not want to support AQ or the heathens that torture their opposition or eat their body parts but I also do not want the remaining rebels to form an alliance with them either. AQ has gained strength in the area by providing assistance while the western powers did not. Leading from behind got us to where we are and if we continue to lead from behind it will only get worse as the remaining rebels ally with AQ to try and save their families and property.
