At least someone is paying attention. Giving aid to rebels that associate with terrorist and who torture and kill civilians is a very bad idea.

I also found an article that claims our European allies will not be helping us supply the rebels. They too think the Syrian rebels could possibly be tied to terrorism and they don't want to supply weapons to them when they could be used on allied troops.

I've stated my opposition to getting involved in their internal strife from the start. You are damned if you do and damned if you don't with neither side having any love for us.

there are several prominent factions of the opposition that hate AQ. Unfortunately for us, they are being wiped out as they have not received any funding or means to defend themselves. Even people opposed to AQ are having to accept their conditions in order to defend their homes and their families because the west did not come to their aid when they needed it and AQ did.

Guess it comes down to whether one has a President too naive to open hos eyes to the fallacy of giving aid and weapons to "rebels", when the strongest and most influential and the vast majority of whom are as bad or worse for American interests than Assad.

Nobody at CIA that isn't a fool or a liar would sincerely tell Obama that a) there are clearly identifiable pro-western rebel forces we can assist that b) will be able to substantially achieve the goal of overthrowing Assad and c) won't sell or just hand over any weapons and supplies they have to anti-western Islamist rebels (the vast majority) or d) won't simply be elbowed out or wiped out completely by such Islamist forces if Assad is overthrown.

Either Obama is being given straight facts and he is going to choose to accept/ignore the risks of our aid going very foreseeably if not immediately into the hands of forces hostile to the US or, less likely, a CIA who has gotten used to him not being particularly friendly to answers he doesn't like is going to feed him some pie-in-the-sky BS that there is a band of whitehats out there to arm up who will lay waste to Assad and all the Islamist radical rebel forces and chant his name in victory while standing in line to hand our weapons back to us.

Idiot McCain apparently took pictures with a group of "brave" rebels as he called them on twitter and it turned out they were wanted by the government for years for about a dozen violent crimes each. Assad is the good guy in this war if there is one.

Pro Iranian poster opposing aid to those that would disrupt the Iranian arms flow to Hezbollah. Go figure.

A pro-Zionist talking out of both ends and supporting Al-Qaeda terrorists when it fits his agenda. Go figure.

A bill to block aid should not be necessary.

A bill to provide it should be necessary. Foreign policy is the joint responsibility of both the President and the people's representatives. One man should not be choosing winners and losers without the assent of those who pay the bills.

the sunni's tired of being outgunned and slaughtered by hezbollah and iranian backed syrian forces needed help. 0 waffled and let them die while AQ showed up with guns and men willing to die to help the syrian sunni's live. Our lack of action left the door wide open for aq to step in and gain support and now 0 is trying to close the door after the fox got in the hen house. leading from behind doesn't work...amd he probably wonders why internal Iranian dissent doesn't act out...nobody can count on him with the exception of the muslim brotherhood.

when will 0 say Morsi has to go? will he pontificate about the will of the egyptian protestors now that their ire is directed at the muslim brotherhood?

I know, it's probably the only time I'll ever agree with something he says. But, in this case, he's right. McCain is a fossil... a relic from the past whose time has come and gone. He wants war at the drop of a hat, and he's willing to give arms to our future enemy (the rebels) if it means getting us involved in that conflict.

How many times have we sent arms to these types (Iraq and Afghanistan 1980)only to have them turn on us. I've had it with the middle East and their petty feuds.... they're never worth American blood.
