    After an eon without a Gator football victory, my frustration last night (and continuing into this morning) was real. I wasn't excited about the season opener beforehand, but I realize now how much I needed a football win. Grrr.....

    Probably football for me, but anyone reading this forum months from bball season obviously has a fondness for basketball as well.

    No single day is better spent than going to a college football game. Tailgating, the band, cheerleaders, and unmatched passion. But there is no better three weeks in sports that compare to March Madness. For these reasons, I love them both equally.

    Nothing beats the game day atmosphere / all day event of a football game. However, basketball will always be my favorite sport, so I voted for Gator Basketball. Love all the Gator sports though.

    Basketball, no doubt. Played it in HS, never played organized football. In roundball you can follow all the players, not just a couple skill positions and many many teams can compete at a high level, not just a privileged few. And once players leave college its not NFL or bust. You can keep following them overseas or in the NBA. At its best, like the showtime Lakers, Basketball is a thing of beauty the whole game while football (and I do love it as well, just differently) is at is best on single plays such as, "Brady drops back, ,,,,Moss is behind the defender... and the rest is history...:)

    I'm sure I'm alone in this, but baseball, another round ball, has always been my favorite pro sport until recently and im even a big fan of the college game. College football has always been my number 1 college sport. Played both growing up.
    However, thanks to the success of the Gators and to a lesser extent the Heat, basketball has moved up quickly. I prob watch more pro basketball than any other pro sport. Still, I root for all Gator sports, especially softball, volleyball, soccer, etc, much to my wife's amazement.

    I was trying to formulate my response, it is a little complicated, but this nails it.

    The two things that make me more of a fan of football are that there is nothing else going on when football gets started, that anticipation makes it sweeter, and there are a lot more people ready to talk football than basketball. But if I got to choose a trip to a football game or a basketball game, it will be basketball. When I'm flipping channels, I stop at the basketball games more often. When Firefox opens it gives me the top nine pages I have visited to make getting back to them quicker, Nuttin' but Net is ahead of Swamp Gas. (but behind Too Hot)

    I prefer games played with round balls in general, and my favorite one both to play and watch is basketball.

    Football has certain interesting aspects, but wow, is it BORING, albeit not nearly as boring as baseball. I mean for every 5 seconds of action, there are approximately 25 seconds of inaction. That is, admittedly, time that I frequently use to meditate.

    That's one of basketball's biggest selling points IMO. Not just is it easier for more teams to compete, (just 2 or 3 guys can completely turn around a roster unlike football) but the way a champion is crowned allows for more randomness - which further opens up the field for more teams to find success. As frustrating as this last fact may be at times, it does even the field to an even greater extent. I think the rash of early entries does as well.

    I am a bigger football fan, but love basketball too... especially Gator hoops under BD.
